View Full Version : 70 mustang fastback
Hi guys, been lurking for quite a while, finally coming down the home stretch on my project and thought I would post a few pics. The body has extended rocker panels, filled side markers and antenna, smoothed bumpers, carbon fiber tailight panel, and custom tailights. Suspension is Total Control coilover in front and their G bar coilover in rear attached to a 4" narrowed 9" and modified Global West connectors. Budnik 19X10, 18x9 with B.F.G. kdw's. Wilwood brakes all around, Wilwood triple master pedals and hydraulic clutch. Engine is a highly modified 302 with fogger system. Interior has corbeau seats, autometer dash and a brushed aluminum theme. anyway, I'm getting close (just in time for winter haha!) I dont see a whole lot of mustangs on here and thought I'd mix it up a bit. Well, I better get back to work!

I like the way your dash bezel matches the wheel, very nice touch. Also, what color did you paint the block? Which paint did you use?

Very nice. I am curious on the color you painted the block as well?
The paint I used is high heat spray can (duplicolor). The color is called die cast aluminum. I experimented with different silvers and this one looks just like natural aluminum. As usual with paint, the key is the prep.

Hey man nice car! Can you tell me who and where you got your power steering pump setup? Thanks in advance.
The power steering pump, bracket and reservoir is KRC thats the same stuff sold from Total Control. I went through Speedway Motors, and purchased it at about half price.

Awesome 'stang! What color is that? 2 or 3 stage paint?
Ron
The color is an 07 Toyota color called Red Salsa Pearl, its the most "candy" 2 stage red I came across. The hood is getting the 69 mach 1 blackout treatment except in flat gray to match wheels and trim with billet hood pins.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely compare it to the color I'm considering for my 69 Camaro - Redfire Pearl Metallic from an 05 Mustang... Ron

Very very nice... and you know I love '70 Mustangs! Damn that paint is gorgeous. I think I might be afraid to drive a car that nice, but looking at the build and parts selection I think I could find a way to overcome my fear.

stang...will you be able to run the exhaust over the axle with the triangulated four link?
I'm starting on exhaust this week and the plan is to go under rear axle. with as low as the car is, its the only option. I think it will look good though.

hey steve are you still having my dad do the trunk?
Hi Danny, if we could coordinate schedules, I would like him to take a look and see what we could do in there. I'm a couple of weeks away from that. I've been working on the mechanical end of it lately (hydraulic clutch, brakes, e-brake, fuel lines ect.) very time consuming! P.S., nova looks good!

That's one very nice looking car. The deep dishing on the rear wheels is a look you don't see very often, and this looks great on your car.
What is your clearance with the 10" wheels back there?
I had to massage the front portion the inner wheelwell some and rolled the lips, clearance is good. The rearend was narrowed 4" to be able to run more negative offset, stock pad width though.

I'm considering doing the same to my car but I don't think I'd narrow the rear quite as much. Maybe just to bring it down to a 65/66 width to get a little more negative offset. Still haven't decided but I better soon so I can order my wheels.
It looks great!

OMG I must have look clean over this project. Glad to see another Ford on hear also. The car is super clean. I dont think you could pic a better color. Are you using coilovers or Air suspension? Got any under body pics?
Thanks! I'm using Varishock coilovers. Seems like the underneath of the car is all I've been looking at lately! been running park brake lines, fuel system, hydraulic clutch and brake system ect.(most of hydraulics are being run inside car, lots of bulkhead fittings!) I'll be taking some pics next week and post some updates.

This car is killer! Where did you get the clutch setup? Is it a cable to hydraulic conversion?
The clutch is a hydraulic universal pull style slave from Wilwood, reconfigured with a heim joint for smoother operation. It's primarly designed to be used with their triple master pedal assembly i'm using.

Hey I love the car especialy the 10" rear rims.
Are you going to lose the rear seat with some bigger bigger fenders to allow for the narrowed rear?
Keep the photos comming!

beautiful project..got some pictures of the tail lights?? PS I love that colour
I've seen that red paint before in person (toyota camry) and it is freakin beautiful. Unbeliveable that it's a factory color. it rocks!!
stang, your car is beautiful, clean undercarriage, discs in back, 9"....
it looks great! Shame on you for hiding it from us for so long! :D
After an extremely tough thrash to get the car together in time for the goodguys show in Pleasanton, we made it and drove into the fairgrounds with one lap around my building on the odometer. It won the Mighty Mustang award and the crowd response made it worth the 16 hour shifts that were performed the prior couple weeks! It was nice meeting some of you and look forward to meeting up again in the future. Meanwhile here's a few pics (I had problems posting some and I'll try to figure that out and post some more detailed shots of the mechanical end of things later)

are those coil-overs from TCP adjustable? just wondered if that is stock ride height with the new setup...how much better does it handle then the old stock Mustang system? im torn between this setup or Global Wests Kit
p.s did you use the TCP rack too?
awesome!!
i want some bigger pics!Every time I try and post some bigger pictures it says I'm exceeding my limit. (thats pretty much everything I do though! lol)
