I was over at my friend's machine shop to pick up a load of powdercoating work and he had the new Professional Products LS6 intake sitting on the shelf. Neither one of us had ever heard of any performance numbers on it, but it looked killer.
I can get a really good deal on it (like, exchange for powdercoating work) but I was wondering if anyone has heard any numbers on it?
It looks awesome, and I can powdercoat it so that would be cool, too. I am planning a heads/cam/intake setup on my 98 TA soon and am very interested in this intake.

BTW, ls1tech is blocked at work, so I can't look there.

do a search on Professional Products. I personally wouldn't run anything they make, even if free. Basically, they've ripped off Edelbrock, stole their designs, and are having them made in China. Thing is, they didn't do a real good job at it, as the quality, port-match, porosity, etc. on many of their manifolds is pitiful at best.
They are cheap however, and if that's your top priority then they fit the bill.

Also, if it's an aluminum intake then don't do it. They heat soak bad and end up costing you power. Stay with composit.

really, are you meaning like the gmpp or edelbrock intake for use with an elbow and tb or a carb?
how much power have you seen it take away?

I think everyone is talking about the replacement aluminum intakes for stock type EFI. I don't have heat relayed data on the carbed versions except they are all the airgap type.

I've talked to a few local guys and they said they picked up good power with this intake after having them port-matched. They did say they lose a little power due to heat-soak, but they said that they made good power with them. Considering I can get this for pretty much free I think I may snatch this up, especially since I would like to go FI on my motor at some point.

Again, what he said..

If the heat soak kills your power eBay it. No loss if its free.

4birdman, my 2 pennies, I've had 2 PP intakes, one on a 383 stroker, & saw it dyno better w/ PP intake than a eldebrock,(engine builder uses them unless customer insist), also have one on a GEN IV BB rat in a 69 Camaro, now, w/ Fogger system that SoCal built/ for me, lines etc. Yep, they're a knock off, but look inside and compare, better porting/ smoother inside, etc.If you don't want the intake, PM me I'll be intrested in it, I need it for a LS1 I want to juice, the Plastic likes to crack with Nitrous.

Also, PP is a sponser on LSItech:hammer: .com, they posted some Dyno comparisions on this intake, if your intrested.

From what I read the PP stuff is all licensed so Good ole Vic makes a few bucks on those items also. Don't you think that otherwise VE would be all over them for just downright copying his products? Also, I recently got some of vics goodies, like a FE428 manifold and it says proudly made in the USA, wanna bet it's either cast in Mexico or Thailand?

Hey that's intresting, bet your correct on the copy-rights. E sure claim it's USA, but if nothing else bet the metal is coming in on a boat ! Along with all the other Auto parts, some of the knock-offs ain't to bad, so long as the Kids aren't testing it for Lead-posioning

Vic is all over them. I've seen ads from Edelbrock directly challenging the PP stuff, comparing port quality, porosity, etc. He is not even a little bit happy about their stuff. No matter where he casts the manifolds, he didn't steal the designs by sending a copy to China for reverse-engineering. That was left to Professional Products.

I read somewhere and it said "licensed product" I'll have to see where I read it. If it's NOT, I sure hope they bring the hammer down on those clowns, I hate how the chinese copy everything and get away with it.
Another one is Pro Comp, they too are shamelessly copying everything from jesel shaft rockers to manifolds that look amazingly similar to a victor jr and soe of the hogans and wilson sheetmetal manifolds, aeromotive fuel systems and so on and so on. It doesn't just resemble these parts, they are blatant copies.

I don't think PP is giving Vic E a dime....................... I'm pretty sure of that. :)
