You might get more responses if you included links in your original post.

Basically, What type of car do you have and what are the different systems. I happen to0 know the Alterkation stuff is Mopar, but don't know what their rear setup looks like. Links to the manufacturer's websites are helpful.

The XV stuff is good but twice the price of the AlterK (+/-). Dont know if you would see that much difference for the money.

What type of car?
What do you intend to do with the car?
What are your expectations in terms of ride quality?
What are your expectations in terms of ease of installation?
What are your expectations in terms of cabin intrusion?

What is the best OVERALL suspension?
1. I intend to do everything with the car.
2. I would think ride quality would be about the same?
3. I know Lateral Dynamics is a more involved install...
4. I' know with Lateral Dynamics I need more a bucket type (or some form of) rear seat...
5. Anyone know the width of a '98-'02 viper seat? ;)

I intend to do everything with the car.
Then you won't be happy in every way.

Leaf springs. That's why the factory uses them.

Honestly, there is no answer to that question. Each suspension configuration has it's benefits and comprimises. The questions I asked of you....

....are intended to help you determine which benefits you desire most, and which comprimises you can best accept. They are the same questions that ANY RESPONSIBLE suspension manufacturer will ask you.

Both the folks at XV and at Lateral Dynamics are nothing if not responsible and they WILL ask you those questions. Further, they will honestly represent the pros and cons of their product and may very well tell you that their product is not suited for your particular application.

Your best bet, going into this process is to spend some time honestly assesing your intent for the project and your expectations for the aforementioned parameters.

If a car does everything, it will do nothing well.

You guys are all over thinking this. You shouldn't put more though into it than the original poster did. He wants the best for EVERYTHING. The answer is easy. Lateral dymanics! I mean ****, Mark and Matt are cool. Throw the business there way. Done deal.

Thanks, Wendell. This is a protouring forum, right? I'm not going to tow a boat with it! track it, show it, drive it...

Are these two choices that different in terms of performance and ride quality??? Maybe that is a better question, but I thought that would be understood considering the type of the only two answers to choose from....sorry I guess. I'm not trying to make it that complicated..

Thanks everyone...keep the opinions and info coming...

as wendel said not much thought in this question, asking one VS. another will get you NO smart answer other than opinions and the fact is that ride quality, performance, value are all subjective to the driver/owner's personal preferences

I'd also add what is your budget?

XV stuff is very well thought out, tested, and analysed products, but will require a fair amount of cutting and welding and will be very pricey.

AlterK and LD are very well thought out and street proven parts that will require less fab work and cost less.

There is a really big debate going on at moparts.com between/about Alterk, XV, with an occasional mention of Magnumforce and a few smatterings of optimized stock stuff thrown in. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=3922429&an=0&page=1#Post3922429

Also keep in mind that if you are going autocrossing that any of these set ups will put you in a class where you will probably be outgunned, so they aren't serious considerations for SCCA stuff unless your going after the prepared guys. Of course they do have a fair amount of wow! power at shows.
