Actually I am really unimpressed by that cars performance. An e30 m3 caught up to it on the second lap.

i was talking to a friend of mine today that does alot of track days with Bob.he was saying Bob has a new track toy in the works and he's thinking about turning the camaro into more of a pro-touring/driving car.

remember this is second hand info so how much of it is truth,i can't say.

I think he (Camaro) was toying with the other guys...now if he (BMW) had passed him (Camaro) like he (BMW) passed the Porsch, 2 Vettes and the spec Miata then yes I would have to agree. Them Bummers do well. Just ask Katz.

As a former owner of an E30 M3, I think that if the E30 M3 were set up like the camaro (full race) the camaro would not stand a chance even though it likely has 300 more HP.

But like 6'9" said it is the loose nut behind the wheel that really makes the difference.

If you track your car. Its not if you will crash, but when.
The trick is to do all you can to hold of the when as long as possible. Looks like Bob was not afraid to track the car. Hope to see it back on the track!!!! Randy

It looks to me the Camaro driver relies on the cars over built setup to make it look as if he appears he's fast. That last video of him passing the car at Sears point, it looks like his line going into the turn was way off. And he knew that the car had more than enough grip and suspension to make up for bad angle?

I've never driven the track, but it just seems to me he could of picked a better line. And it did haul away from the camera car pretty fast once it got back onto the straight...

If a car has the ability to handle a curve off line, would that not open up more opportunities for passing? I've never been on a track before, just asking and trying to learn.

Is it really off if he knew that he'd make it without trouble?

I've driven Sears Point and the car being passed should have looked in his mirror and moved left to allow passing. Since he didn't notice the Camaro looming in his mirrors, the Camaro passed him on the left then hit the brakes and turned in. That Camaro looks like it's very fast and well driven.

I think Bob or some close friend was on this forum a few years ago and there was talk of him and someone else here meeting up for a "shootout" of sorts. People started talking smack a bit and I think they wanted to keep the event friendly and private. Never heard if it actually happened.

Ok, I'll admit I deserved that.

I love the O'Rly Owls.

Not knowing more about the driver of the car, I won't comment more on what little I've seen. Just in that clip, to me... it seemed odd.

And what David said about the camera car probably being in the wrong place when the Camaro passed does make sense. I hadn't thought about that. So in that perspective I can see where that would make it's approach seem 'off'.

Plus Mr. Pozzi really does know his stuff.:worship: So I'll quiet down.:hammer:

This is very true, I wish this upcoming track day at Willowsprings hadn't come at such a bad time for me financially. Much rather be in the seat of my own car on a track, than in my office chair. Especially since the car has more lumbar support....

I've raced motorcycles quite a bit and thought I knew a fair bit about getting around a road course.

Then I took a ride with Mary. Every braking point, every turn in, every track-out that I would have used on a bike is completely wrong in a car. On a bike there are often 4-6 different genuinely fast ways through a corner. In a car there is one, maybe 2 tops depending on the car (big difference between RWD and FWD and a heavy and light car).

I too have no behind the wheel (plenty on 2-wheels) experience on track, but what I do know has taught me that I don't know S#!T.

I've taken my old 2007 Triumph Daytona out to Buttonwillow once a while back. And I can agree with you that it's a different world on a bike than in a car. Even from driving the same roads I've ridden... like you said, it's all different.

I can't wait to get my Camaro going... thing is going to be a track whore.
