I had planned to restore a car but after 3 years i still just had a shell. here is my new car before the tear down started.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/front-1.jpg

last week i set the engine in with hooker headers and hooker mounts. it was a tight fit but today i discovered a nice benifit.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/installed1-1.jpg

the benifit is that the stock oil pan will "almost" work. in fact it would but the drag link would hit on a hard right turn. i did not have to modify the oil tube and the OEM baffle has one little mod.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/oilpan-1.jpg

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/oilpan1-1.jpg

and here is the plan for tomorrow.

i hope he does not knock the bottom out of the pan because it hangs low.

I got speed tech uppers on and the lowers with DSE bushings. I had to remove one of the lowers to install the sway bar. I still have to mount the brakes.

now here is some bling or not so bling. I am not a big fan of the aftermarket dashes so i am trying to keep it stock looking. I plan to paint the silver rings semi flat. i still have to finish it up but i can see how it will look!!

here is a shot of the engine location with the hooker mounts.

everyone ask about how close it it. It is CLOSE but it does fit. to make it easier i have the center link out of the steering. I test fit the engine complete but after painting the firewall i decided to put the engine back in and then install the heads.

engine setting there.

today i built my tranny mount. it took a couple hours and i like how it came out. I have tons of room for the exhaust. i took two peices of 1.5x1.5" angle and bolted it to the top of the frame. i then bent two 90*s out of 1" 1/4 wall pipe. i made a 1" cross member and welded it to a old bracket that i had. I left the two stubs long so i can lower the crossmember if i need to. once it is all tested i will cut if off and finish it up. right now the tranny is 3* down.

well I took about 6 months off due to some issues that came up, but all is good now. It really sucked because the car was only about 4 hours away from starting. I got back to work last week and got it fired off. I also ran most of the brake lines.

I still have to mount the battery, install the interior, run the rear brake line, and fix a fuel leak.

enjoy the pics.

Project is looking great! One suggestion from recent experience, buff the surface rust off of your belt pulleys with a wire brush or blast and repaint them. I recently took a car out of storage that had sat for 19 years and after fireing it up and running it I kept replacing or tightening belts. The rust in the pulley grooves was eating the belts away almost faster than you could tighten them and I see from your photos that it is already marking your serpentine belt badly. The rust will eat the belt rather than the belt cleaning up the pulley, like I said been there done that and brought home the T-shirt.

What front accessory set up did you use? It looks like you got the A/C mounted high away from the subframe. Is that a Sanden compressor? I am looking for an economical setup for an LS3. Looks great.

SatisTraction

it is a sanden 508 on S&P'S set up. i used the camaro drive for everything else. there is a new set up on ebay that looks promising on a light budget.
