So I have been working on a chop for a buddy's transport business. He wanted something simple looking and not to busy. My idea was to make it look "Cartoonish".

DISCLAIMER: I'm no professional!!! I am self taught and novice at best.

What do you guys think though? Be honest, it wont hurt my feelings because I realize I suck at Photoshop for the most part. Thinking bout taking some schooling though to get better, I really enjoy doing these chops.

Note: My thoughts for the end result will have the text for his business name written in an Arch on top of the cartoon....? The toon will be in the background. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions????

Great job so far,I would suggest you learn to use the pen tool indstead of the polygon lasso.Thats the reason you have those jagged lines on the exhausts.

And thats not sucking at photoshop its a hell of alot better than I did when I started. :lmao: I am also self taught with photoshop and 3d studio max all I did was search the net for tutorials and ask alot of questions.

Here's a tutorial for the pen tool

I agree with ZVT. He's got the right tutorial. Also I have taught myself all the little tricks...sometimes searching on the web and also asking questions.

School is only going to teach you the basics...which I believe you already have. Give it time and you will see results after alot of practice.

Thanks for the tip ZVT!!!
That Pen Tool tutorial is gonna help me out ALOT!!! I've just been a little overwhelmed by the Pen Tool for some reason...? It just seems like there is sooo much to it BUT the finished product always looks amazing!!

I checked out your PS gallery, very nice work!! I want to do chops that look like your "1967 Firebid Vert", "1972 Torino GT 429", "1974 Roadrunner", etc.... I CANT seem to figure it out though!!! How do you do that!!! Agh!! I'm just gonna keep pluggin away at this program till I figure it out. Let me know if you have anymore tips or suggestions. Thanks ZVT!!!

You can have the business logo show up as smoke from the stacks.
A big smoking diesel might be a counterproductive image for the guys business, but it would look cool.

Thats an interesting idea.... I'm still working on the toon itself but once I get it how I like it I'm gonna focus on the writing.. Thanks for the input though!
