i have a Holley blue pump laying around but it's old. Im running a 396 with big cam and more compression. Should i use my electric pump or get a mechanical? Im not sure if it makes a differance but it will be driven almost everyday.

thanks

Go for a good mechanical pump. Unless you go with a bypass regulator, the fuel pump will be noisy as hell and not last all that long. :twothumbs

Agreed. A Carter street pump should work great.

Do i still need to use a fuel pressure regulator? I have one allready so if I can use it that would be cool unless its really not needed.

Most mech. high performance pumps require a regulator.

May not fit your budget, but it will handle anything you can throw at it. Great if you have future upgrades planned.

I have a mechanical race pump with regulator and have a 496. I had a problem with the pump and race pumps replaced it right away.

Do not buy the Howard so called race mechanical pump. It wont last a week. Then you will be asked to pay $90.oo for an upgrade kit. Its worthless junk.
