My Grandparents bought my Camaro a few days before I was born.

I've had the plan in mind since I was about 16 and I found a book in a library with old photos of the original Trans-Am series.

I was recently at a meeting with a bunch of guys that I am in networking group with and when I went outside to leave several of the guys were gathered around my car.

I responded with a hell yeah and dumped the clutch leaving them in a cloud of smoke:drive:

30, bought the vette at 20 while I was in college and sold my high school Camaro to do so. After I got married, my dad and I bought another Camaro because we missed it so much. The shell is still in the garage, but nothing keeps me feeling like high school like a blast down the streets in the vette.

34, My parents bought me a wrecked 68 camaro when I was 14, then gave me the parts to fix it. Definitely taught me to appreciate the car I had and pride in something I built I still have it, along with ummm like 10 other cars that are all older than I am. It's a bad habit but I deal with it ok.....

I've always had a project (most of them not my own. My dad gave me a 69 camaro RS/SS when I was 13 to work on with him. (that I sold for 1000 bucks! oh. the regret)

After having a kid when I was 17 I took 15 years off of having a custom car of my own. The corvair was my first venture back into owning a "hot rod." Thank goodness they are so cheap, and my wife is so cool.

Six months later girlfriend (now wife) borrowed TA to go out with her friends, blew a radiator hose and drove it 10 miles back to my house. Rebuilt the 400 again, bought 87 TA, sold both TA's to help pay for college, AAS in Automotive Technology at 19, ASE Master Tech at 20. Cars since- 68 firebird 400 project- sold to get married, 68 firebird 350 4 speed driver-sold to buy current 68 firebird PT project- NEVER FOR SALE!

I have to say, that as one of the, Ummm "Senior" members of this forum, I like that fact that there are a majority of young cats on here building cool cars. One of the other forums I belong to spends a ton of time bemoaning that fact that young dudes aren't interested in cars any more and just want to play computer games and social network, or if they do like cars it's only ricers. :nopity:
This forum proves them wrong and most of you guys are building cars to really get out and drive, not sit behind in a lawn chair.
I LIKE IT!

18 had the bird since i was 17 and its still in paint jail but thats my fault....

Sorry, that one cracked me up. 18 , had the car for a year and its already in paint yet called jail. Most guys have to work on a car for 4 years before it gets to paint. I wish I was that young again - a whole year to wait for a car would seem like an eternity. I'm 35. I've had my 68 firebird since I was 15. I've only driven it for 3 years in that time - but that's my fault... :P

37 now, got my 67 camaro at 15. drove it for 6 months and tore it down for a build. ya, 20 years ago, lol. have built MANY show winning cars and custom choppers over the years and my skill level is on par with some of the finest custom shops, so figured what the hell, time to blow the dust off of it and finally make it into the car i had once imagined, but didn't have the room or skill when i was younger (or dough for that matter, haha)
my other current cool ride is a 97 hennensey venom 650r gts viper. was gonna tt that and do more work, but it will be fine in it's current state of modification. the dough will be better spent in the camaro!

Good to see so many young guns on here! Comforting to know the future of our hobby is in good hands.

I turn 42 in like 15 days. I may be a little wiser now but I think my mentality shut down at 16. I remember having a dial phone, playing that Pong game on the Atari system, listening to tunes on the 8-track, watching home movies without sound on the 8mm projector, and when it was rare to have more than one TV per household. Now we have 3 TVs, 5 computers, 2 Wiis, a PS3, mp3 players, and point and shoot cameras that take better videos than an 8mm could ever hope to. Wow have times changed.

I beat the tar out of my parents 75 4 door Nova when I started driving at 15. Then at 16 bought a 69 Chevelle and started drag racing. With a poorly built motor that spun a bearing 3 months after buying the car it sat in the garage for 2 years until I had to sell it when we moved. At 17 I bought my first Nova and have owned at least one since. I've had my current 73 Nova for 10 years, my 74 Nova for 8 years, and the wagon for about 4. The 73 will get passed to my son next year when he turns 14, a good excuse to start spending money on it again and finally get it back together. He's excited to turn old enough to autocross, I guess I did something right with him, lol!

I am 20, turn 21 in June. Had a 79 chevy C20 as my first pickup, it was a farm pickup and still is.

In 8th grade tore apart my Grandpa's 1946 Willys CJ2A, haven't really worked on it.

Mainly because at 15 I talked my dad into getting me a project car, a 1968 Oldsmobile 442. I was going to do the whole restoring thing as the interior was fully there. Didn't happen, but school and farming has taken most of my time. Now I am a Junior in Mechanical Engineering and going to work on my car for the first time in so long, I don't remember the last time I worked on it. Being away at school sucks in that respect, but having the knowledge of Pro Engineer and some engineering design experience my car will be much more thought out when it is finished. If it doesn't get done until I am graduated from college so be it. I have had my eye on so many cars in bushes and shelter belts around home over the past few years., but I just need to finish one first lol.

52.... I have had the same car since 1983... I have other daily drivers, and at 52, my car is crazier than it has ever been..Coil overs, 4 wheel discs, ect....

I can still have fun, and I have the money now to do it...

Someday when i get old, i may sport for a CPO AMG, but for now , Old School works just fine...

I'm 31. My parents bought me my Cutlass when I was 15 and I drove it until I was about 17 when I came up with the bright idea that I was going to strip it and get a paint job over the summer. Well, it was off the road until about 2002 when I finally got it painted and has been receiving upgrades ever since.

62

Whoa...since this thread was first posted, I have retired and started collecting Social Security (no joke)

I have been a Chevy nut since the early 60's. For me it's all about big torque and canyon carving.

Also 62 and retired(since 2005)-project cars and racing since the 60's...

Age is a state of mind but sometimes I forget what state I'm in!
