Here is the video of a prototype at SEMA

I believe this is their website
http://www.ledwheels.com/ledwheels.htm
I have no idea how they plan on pulling off some obvious problems which would arrive. But I can actually see a market for these.

Haha yeah you could have a entire database of rims and just have them switch depending on your mood. Great way to save money.

:screwy: :machine:
I saw their booth at SEMA. They intended to use the wheel covers for advertising on cabs and such, but I'm sure the DONK crowd will use them to show "Da Brat's" latest video.
Here's a pic.

I remember reading a story of a Congressman or a Govenor a while back trying to outlaw flashy rims because apparently "when the car stopped but the wheels kept spinning" it distracted him enough to cause him to hit another car. I can only think of what he might do when he looks over and see a sexy commerical on those same wheels.

I call those "Baby's Daddy" wheels - just when you think ridiculousness had plateaued with donks, this comes through and shatters the 'tard barrier.

I myself find these wheels ridiculous, and other then advertisement, I see no purpose, but why do we have to use the stereotypes of the urban youth to bash these wheels? I don't understand the donk trend, or any of that stuff, but it's a trend that was set by someone, and there are some misguided kids out here following the trend. I'm sure that you guys remember following a trend growing up that was ridiculous. Pro street on the street maybe? Imitating a monster truck in high school? Hanging on to the 70's too long? You know it's up to us as leaders to shape trends and make sure that garbage like this does not make out on the streets. Not to criticize kids that are not fortunate, and are shaped by tv and media. Just my two cents.

as a guy that gets paid to work with the less fortunate/urban youth/troubled/mentally ill (deopends on the day of the week, and what location im at as to wich one), Khool67 has hit it right on. the wheels are absolutely ridiculous, yes. but some kids are going to love them, and pay for them. and who's to blame? us, for not doing something constructive about it when we had the opportunity.
so kudos, Khool67 for making this point.

Yea, you guys are right about the donk sized LCD wheels. I'm sure the target audience is suburban soccer moms and retired upper class 60 somethings.....lets get serious - calling a spade a spade does not change the fact that they will go straight to rap videos.
Anybody care to make a wager (I have paypal).

why do we have to use the stereotypes of the urban youth
No matter what trend it is, these DO NOT belong on ANY vehicle operating on ANY public road/highway. Regardless if it is the urban youth or the average suburban soccer mom. All these are are a distraction to those trying to operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner on public roads and highways. Everyone said the same thing about 20 inch rims being tacky until we urban youth took them under our wing and now every suburbanite that couldn't stand the idea of anything other than a stock wheel has them on their vehicles/suvs so I don't think this has anything to do with what demographic will have them, THEY DO NOT BELONG ON THE ROAD FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT PERIOD in my opinion.

Yes you are totally correct. These will HAVE to come with a "Check your local law before operation while vehicle is in motion" sticker. Because if you cant have fuzzy dice hanging from your rear view mirror, then why would they allow a TV on the outside of the vehicle?

With the rolling billboards driving thru Vegas traffic and all of the other things to look at that can distract you that are much more interesting than those wheels I would have to think of outlawing them as just another way to pass the irresponsiblity onto someone else for a personal mistake of your own.
Finding others to blame for accidental deaths and medical problems has become a way of life and a way to ruin it for others and if you agree to outlaw these wheels , remember that your PT car is next since it is an uneeded personal extension of you that is not neeeded in the eyes of others who don't believe the way you do.
Teach your kids to not suck on toys, play with fire , wander around senselessly, talk in turn with respect, be aware of the things around them and just plain be responsible people and be accountable for the stupid things we all do and the world will be a much better place. But to teach them to blame everyone else for their actions and making laws against so many things is the way we are these days and it is killing the american way of life and freedom.
I know you can't yell fire in a theater because it causes public panic. Do you really think those wheels will cause you to PANIC ?
All of this senseless stuff is apparently blocking good judgement all the way to legislation!!!!and I am not going to be a part of it if I can help it and the first to admit that I should have been watching what I was doing if I ever ran into a car because I was looking at something else. A law is not going to stop me from having a bad moment but it will continue it for everyone else to be invloved when the lawsuit hits the courtroom [That's what laws do ] and I don't want to waste the taxpayers time or money dealing with a stupid and simple mistake of my own!!!
The saying that if it saves one life it is worth it is a bunch of hope in a country that kills sooo many people in soo many ways and we find them acceptable. We wouldn't even be allowed to own a car if that was true and I can hardly wait for the polititions to think long enough and past their way to work to realize that eliminating all lead will leave America walking or riding bikes since the future of cars will always contain some type of lead somewhere.
I hope I didn't get too political but that is exactly what the tone of this thread had become and for very good reason, HYPOCRACY!!
Those wheels are a cool part of modern technology that belongs just as much as headrest DVD players!!! and pro-touring cars

It would probably be cheaper to go & buy your 10 favorite rim styles for when you change your mind than to buy them anyway.

Using Vegas is a strong argument, however as we all know Vegas
has so much money rolling in , and money talks power. :smoke:
In every OTHER civilized area, neon lights showing on a vehicle
are illegal, LED's exposed are illegal, etc etc. Why?? Because yes,
they are a distraction in traffic. LCD rims are also a distraction if
allowed to be on the road. I do agree with you that in a perfect
world with a supremely intelligent populace this wouldn't be an issue.
However that's a pipedream as we all know.
If you had kids and rolled up on a Cadillac Escalade with headrest TV's
showing porn ......I think you'd be slightly uneasy about your kids seeing that.
People are dumb. Why do crib manufacturers get sued when 3 babies
nationwide die because they fall up against the railing because the
parents were too retarded to figure out basic building on the crib???
Then a massive recall is enforced.....makes no sense...
That's not fair.....but it is how things work here.
You can sue the hair drying company for not putting a label on their
device that says "Risk of electric shock, do not use in Bathtub".
That alone tells you how stupid people are because that label wouldn't
be there unless some 'tard already tried sueing them. People
are stupid by nature, and therefore the government wants everything
idiot proof.
