Has anyone out there used an electric power steering pump? I'm looking to minimize parasitic power loss since I need to buy a pump anyway for my SBC. I've heard of one person trying the Toyota MR2 electric pump but without the PWM control circuit that varies pump pressure with vehicle speed. Any ideas what the stock GM Saginaw pump costs in horsepower? Let me know your thoughts or experiences. Thanks!

The Saturn Vue used to have a electric pump. I Think Flaming River sells an eltric for street rods.

I think the new Silverado hybrid has an electric pump, but I don't have any experience with it.

I doubt the stock power steering pump uses over 1hp when driving straight down the road. Most of the oil is bypassed at that time and pressure only develops when the steering wheel is turned and the spool valve closes.

I saw one somewhere else that was attributed to Flaming River, but it doesn't show up on their website. Does anyone know if they are making an electric power steering pump and if so the price?
thanks
