I am getting ready to cut the dash and box it in for a Alpine CD player, single din. Like to see how others have done it.

Please post pics if you got them.

Thanks,
Brian

Heres the one I made up a couple years ago. Always meant to redo something better, but it works, and it looks a little nicer than just cramming it in the cut opening.

Thanks for the pics.
I am going to recess mine to the inside.

Yours would be great for a flip out monitor.

Here is a pic of what I did. I used Bondo Glass to build up a Volvo faceplate. It turned out pretty good considering it was my first time using the stuff.

I did something similar with the volvo face plate. Its just a universal for 80's or 90's volvo's. Instead of making my own centre dash console I ordered a radio delete console and will be cutting into it. If I could do it again, I wouldn't hack the dash. I would leave the radio and mount the CD or mp3 player in the glove box. THe tape deck hidden stereo thing just never looked right to me but you can get the little hidden controller that you could mount in your ashtray. Once you hack that dash there's no going back.
If you are going for a modern look , why not get a covens centre piece and mount a player in a custom console? That way you can always go back.
Just my opinions. If you have already hacked and need the install kit brand and number pm me and I'll go to the garage and see if I still have it.

Unfortunately, mine was already cut when I got the car, but I think this has turned out pretty well, I got a new panel and trimmed it a little better than before and cleaned up the heater control panel as well.

I'm not sure if there is room but I would like to try and install a am/fm, disc player inside the heater control bezel. I figure I will be running Vintage air down the road so I could put their panel where the original radio went.

Flipped and put the radio up top. Much nicer IMO. Only thing I should have done is put the A/C vent where the ash tray was. Sealed it all up.

Next on my list is a custom center console.

Here's another idea. I did this in the beginning and went back to the 70's/80's with the raised foam underneath! lol I'm not even close to being done with the interior and will probably use something else. I'm waiting for someone to mass produce something! :) Maybe just get a center console and install the radio down there. My console was already hacked up too. I'll just buy an anvil piece to cover it!

UPDATE!!! Classic Industries has three new options for the center section of the 67-68 dash. One has the original look with a radio delete. One is a solid front with a carbon fiber look and the last is a solid front with the black pebble look. The last two that I mentioned also cover up the ash tray. My original idea was to buy the DSE blank plate for mounting the Vintage Air controls and cut it out for the radio and then move the controls down to where the original radio was. Now I have to many options. LOL

I plan to use the blank black pebble version and probably mount the radio up top. and try and build something to go around it like rarobins did in post #4.

I still need to add the center dash cover. But here is the DSE blank hvac bracket. I cut it out and painted it satin black.

I plan on adding Vintage air down the road. But I will have to use a different controller. But, this allowed me to not have to cut up my dash.

I like 400BIRD. So that mounts behind the original dash? Then you can lay the center console over it?

I made a Fiberglass piece to incorporate the Stereo and AC vents.

Correct, besides having to cut out the spot for the radio it was a direct bolt-in. The camera makes it look a little crooked but everything is straight.

I'm looking to doing something almost identical. Do you by chance have a part number and place where you bought the center cover at?
