I need an alternator for my 68 Camaro with a short water pump that can handle the Mark VIII fan. I had to swith to a short pump since the long pump was to close to the fan so........I got a 140amp alternator from a 96 Impala and since it is spaced out so far I cannot secure the front lower bolt with a bracket. I have a set of alternator brackets from CV Products for an alternator that is 118mm (4.64") or less in diameter. I don't want to speed $200+ on a racing mini that only puts out a bear minimum amps so what others have you guys run that are this size, like from a foreign car that you can get at a local parts house? I know the mini ones with the low amps for toyotas have been used on racecars for years so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used a Cs series alt. It has a small body, but not sure if it's that small. http://www.extreme4wheelin.com/tech/alternators/tech.htm Try this. It shows pics, no measurements.

I haven't tried the cs130 cause it is almost the same but a lttle smaller than the cs144 that I have. I was hopeing to find a small alternator off a foreign car that is a high output to use, cause I know that alot of the new toyota's, etc have 130amp outputs. I may have to fab a bracket for the bottom if all this fails. I have looked for specs on alternators to get the measurements with no luck so far.

If you are using the short waterpump mounted on the LH side and have accessory holes in the front of the head, then check out my website.

I have had zero power problems.

I looked at your sight Carl and would use the setup you have except I have the sweet pump that mounts on the head. I realize I can get the block mount but at this point that is yet another expense. Over the weekend I think I can make mine work mounting it on the passenger side and using the brackets that I have for the mini alternator, I will have to cut the upper one and use a different adjuster. The other problem I have is I run the KRC serpentine setup and that makes the alternator have to be moved out farther. I will see what happens when I can spend more time thinking and having my hands on the subject.
