Ok so im not really getting the response i wanted in my other thread so here goes... what are the hinderances of the stock type front suspension on a 65 mustang? my original plan was to do opentracker arms with a tcp rack and some good coilovers with a sway bar. if i used the beefed up opentracker arms i am able to lower the upper arm between 1.5-1.75.

After doing all of this do you think that it would handle better than say an "out of the box" heidts MII setup? Thanks again-Nick

I would go with your first option over the MII conversion. The 65 chassis is pretty flimsy in its unmodified state and attaching a MII suspension to the frame rails is not going to help matters.

What chassis mods are you considering?

the rear is either getting a tri-4 link or a 3 link with a watts... it already has full length subframes that are welded through the floor. i plan on bracing the front shock towers on the engine bay side as well as inside the fenders. and after all that a cage.

dissasembled... and from the back seat back no floor pan. i also have 2x3 tubing going from the front rails all the way to the back of the car. that is what i used for the new kickups and rails

From what I've been reading, a modified stock style suspension provides better geometry than the MII. Sorry, I can't bring the tech to back it. It's just just what I've concluded from readijn the many discussions on the various boards.

And some of the best improvements:
-Shelby Drop (1" w/stock UCA, more with modified uca or tubular)
-boxed or tubular UCA
-Opentrackers roller spring perches
-replacing the rubber strutrod bushing with a spherical type.
-rack and pinion steering

Here's a thread discussing it's developement. If you jump to the end you'll see he's already had a prototype cast. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=673899&highlight=drop+spindles
