WhooHoo!!!:attn:
The Camaro finally has risen from the dead! After almost 2 years, it is going again! Just thought I would share my joy with you guys!
Now, it will take a month of sundays to get the thing clean and looking presentable again. :help!: Dooh!

Didn't you take it down cause you thought you were down 80 or more HP under boost? I still remember that line. . .

Actually I did a suspension remodel.
It has had that HP problem at other times though, just not this time.:yum: But, the new 4" single exhaust with a Hooker muffler has seemed to hurt the power over the straight downpipes. I don't know how much because it has been WAAAY too long to tell over the dual 3" with bullets. So, well see.
Does it handle/hook better? Dunno, been too long. It seems to be accellerating more while spinning now when before it felt like it "got up on the tires" while spinning and did not accellerate well.
I just need time to drive it now.:naughty:

That is funny, my daughter calls it a "Puter" also. No matter how many times we tell her it is COMputer, she still says Puter.

You know that is true!! LOL!:candle: But that is why my 2 month project has lasted 2 years!
I drove it last night and it sounds like the driveshaft is going to fall out when I put it into gear. So, it looks like I need to change the U joints this weekend.
I am like a kid with a new toy that I can't play with, I am so excited to be able to drive it again!! :jump:

LOL. Sorry, just now saw the post. Here is a few that I took when it was still apart and going together. It seems that is the only pics I have of it! :hand:
Hopefully going to go to the strip again this weekend, if it don't flood us out. It did this last time.

I'm still unsure if it is a good thing or not. It DOES seem to be better on street tires (drag racing only) for sure though. Handling, the jury is still out since I can't drive well enough to be able to "tell" what is right or wrong. I have said before that I will take a dump truck into a corner as hard as it will go, but that still don't tell me if it is worth a crap! LOL.:dunno:
Talk to me suspension guys............good, bad, work or never work? Was it a waste of time? Thoughts? Ideas? Changes?
Are you going to have the car out for Street Machine Nationals this weekend? I remember looking this thing over a few years ago. Simply amazing car!!!

Hey Jimmy, good to hear it's running again!
Just shows how projects go when life gets in the way ;-)
(I had the same, family/house first so it usually takes "a bit" longer than estimated)
now enjoy it!!

well, I just got back from the Dragstrip again. They ended up doing only 1/8 mile this weekend to make it easier (I think because it was the big event of the year, the doorslammer shootout). But I made a few passes and it did 8.03 @ 99.88 on the 17" bfg's and did 7.22 @ 97.60 on the ET Streets. Then it rained and I changed the tires back and drove it back home in the pouring rain!!
I am going to try to go to the street machine Nat's tommorow if it ain't raining too.
Just another update!

That time and those speeds probably mean the 60 ft is slow but you made up fopr it on the big end. Wheelspin?

With the 17's on it, I actually half throttled it thru first and short shifted into second and then tromped it, spun a bit, peddled it once and stuck it thru till the end. On the ET streets, it did not spin, but I don't think it was running like it should've. With no timing controller and the timing locked out at about 25*, it doesn't come up on boost like it should either. It doesn't start eating good till about 30' or so out. I NEED to get one finally! LOL! Also remember the car has 3.00 gear!
The car not running exactly right could be contributed to the fact that after the second pass, it was rattling pretty bad on top of the head. I pulled the valvecover off and found that a poly lock was loose. Don't know why, so I pulled the pushrod out to see if it was mashed or anything goofy. Went to put it back in and, well, the oil makes it slippery! LOL! (you see where this is heading!) Dropped it into the valley. I said that's ok, I have pulled several out on the Power Tour one year with a magnet. I had one in the small toolbox that I had and started to mess with getting it out. I hear the magnet move it thru the hole and feel a little resistance so I think ok and slowly pull it up. It gets to the top where I can see it thru the hole and see it was a freaking lifter hooked to the magnet! DOOOH!!!! So, I messed with trying to get that back into the bore for about 30 minutes and finally get it back in. I put it back together and don't have a feeler guage, so I just try to get the lash where it "feels right". It still must be loose because it still rattles a little bit, but not too bad. So, that is something that needs to be done now, and could be why the MPH is a little off on the last two runs.
Good times!!! LOL
