What is involved with getting rid of the "woodgrain" look on the dash of a 69 Camaro?

The woodgrain should only be inserts, and able to be removed, I know you can buy the inserts from places like Year One, Rick's, and Classic Ind, if you want to add that look, so I guess if you don't then do the opposite. I believe their held in place by nuts behind you dash. I haven't pulled my dash yet so I'm just working on a guess. You can also buy vinyl sheets and cover the woodgrain if you want a different look. Ive seen burlwood, aluminum, and carbon fiber.
