View Full Version : Fuel injection & vaccuum canisters?

I have a cam in the LT1 that I think will give me a problem with the brakes. So, other than moving to hydroboost yet, I have a vaccuum canister to add to the system to help with the brakes. My question is, will the vaccuum canister throw off the fuel pressure regulator? My thought is I need some kind of one-way valve between the intake & the canister, with a T in the hose before the canister to the brake booster.

Thanks

If it's going to be a problem with the brakes, then it's going to be a problem for the computer too. Do you have someone with a lot of experience tuning one of these?

I have a configuration file for the LT1 with the cam I have to be programmed using LT1edit.

Yes, you need a chack valve installed. You should already have one between the manifold and the booster. Just plumb the can in between the check valve and booster, and all should be good.

the cc306 with T56 will be fine with the power booster .. no canister needed .. I also have a few CC306 bin files that I was using in my old setup.. if you need them.

What size injectors will you be using ?

tunercat is cheaper then LT1edit.

Really? I thought for sure it would be havoc on the power brakes. I have stock injectors, with an adjustable regulator.

Brakes worked perfect when I had that cam in my '86 Camaro LT1 swap (and it was 4wheel disc with 1le's up front) .. also worked fine when i moved the motor to a '95 Z28.

The stock 24# injectors will not hold well with the cc306 since it is a high RPM cam .. If your on a budget you can use a set of LS1 injectors.. 26#s.. I was running 30svo's.

I was told, & found same info on the net, that LT1 & LS1 injectors flow the same amount of fuel at the same pressure. From the factory LS1s are set at a higher pressure so they look like the injectors flow more.

Well i've tried running the stock 24#s with the cc306 .. it was a total dog up top .. and datamaster was showing a 98% duty cycle .. I jumped straight to 30# svos ... a nice 28# at stock pressure would have been a better choice.

Now i know why the 26# LS1 injectors didnt like my Procharged LT1(stock 44K mile lt1) .. set of racetronic 37#s are just enuff. lol

If you have enough capacity on the pump, you could up the fuel pressure so the injectors flow more, then recal.
