Like the title says i have about 3-5k depending on a few things to spend on the front suspension, including brakes, of my 65 mustang...the thing is i just got done replacing all the worn out stuff with new mustangs plus stuff i.e. new control arms, bushings, 620 springs, and i also did the "shelby" mod.

But i dont like the feel of it. I want a newer version rack, something thats like 2-3 turns lock to lock. Also i dont mind going the mustang 2 route but its not needed as i plan on modifying my shock towers. i am going to be running a 302 based motor. This car is already in the process of being "back halved" so i want the front to sit equally as low.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks Nick

EDIT- looking for about a 4.5 inch ground clearance

as far a tcp goes it looks as it is a little overpriced for what you get... i think that i would rather got for a heidts or martz type mustang two seeing as these are both in the same price range and not to mention you get a whole lot more in their kits... or is the handling capabilities of the tcp product far better the the before mentioned

What will you be using the car for? I see your backhalfing it. What kind of rear suspension will it have?

Give Griggs Racing a call. Bruce and John know there stuff and they make some really, really fast race cars as well as street cars.

plans for the rear include fininshing up the three link as wells as modifying the evm watts setup to work with my setup.

Griggs seems to be a little bit out of my budget though-$6500+

Short of making it yourself prices will be around that ball park. How devoted are you to making this car handle? You might be stuck with stock configuration with a spring and shock upgrade.

i want this car to handle, comfort come second... i know very little about front end engineering or else i would try and tackle the job myself... i was thinking opentracker arms with a tcp rack and some good coilovers with a sway bar... sound good?

Besides the fact that you will still be stuck with the same crap geometry.

geometry will change as with the opentracker arms i am able to lower the upper arm an 1.5-1.75 inch...

What engine are you running and what is your overall goal for the car.

I am assuming that you are running a small block (302 - 347) and building a high performance street machine. Am I correct?

yes it we be a small block... havent decided whether to go 302 or 351 based, as a buildup will be similarly priced, i also plan on going with a t56. it will be a hipo street car with a few track visits a year...

as far as the stock geometry goes i think it will handle to my expectations rather than having to do a mII setup but i want the car to sit low so i am not sure how low i can go with the stock type setup???

what do you guys think of the opentracker products?

i bought a track plus suspension from mustangsplus for my 65 coupe and it really... really made a difference.. you could upgrade it with a watts link from Fays2 and perhaps some sliders instead of schackles... subframe connectors and tourxue box between the door sill and fromt frame also make a BIG improvement... but it is within your budget and it handles awesome...

we used heidt's kit, and it's well within your budget, with plenty left over for big brakes

it handles very well and rides/steers like a new car

With a budget of $3-5K, I'd go with The TCP kit linked above or the Global West (http://www.globalwest.net/Mustang%201967-70%20coilover%20suspension%20kits.htm) coilover kit

[Edit] Sorry, I just noticed your goal was getting a nice stance. I don't know which options will get you there. But I do know that a drop spindle may be coming our way relatively soon.
