how did I ever live without this transmission?
Yanked the engine and old M22 on Saturday.
Put in the new Lakewood shield (0.003 out of the box)
Bolted up the McLeod Street Twin Clutch.
Mated the new TKO600
And stuffed it all back in on Sunday.
Had a new 3.5" aluminum driveshaft with 1350 yokes made up today.
Drove around the neighborhood tonight at 9pm.
Going from a 2.2 1st to a 2.87 1st is like having 4.56s now!
I've got a few loose ends to tie up and then I'll get out on the highway and try out 5th gear!

For anyone considering a Tremec JUST DO IT!

BTW, I bought the McLeod offset shifter from 67 Bird (https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33694&highlight=mcleod) who bought it from Chadmando who won it at a PT Dinner. So per Larry in this post https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showpost.php?p=110324&postcount=3
Here's a picture of it going in my car:

That shifter (the same type I have in my car) is a collectors item since McLeod doesn't make it any longer (since begin bought by B&M)

Now it's only sold through McLeods old owner Red and it doesn't have the clover on it.

Just some trivia for ya :)

Glad you're enjoying the new tranny!

Steve,
Have you had a chance to "get on" that new Tremec just yet?

How does it feel going from a close ratio trans to a much wider ratio? Even one with a first gear lower than an M20?

Not trying to start a holy war. I really just want your opinion.

I expected a few little things...
- the old x-member was a bit..h to get out. It's always been that way.
- the new x-member was a little tough to get back in...
- the exhaust system is hitting the new x-member. I had to be creative to get it to all hook up again. I'll be heading to the exhaust shop to have some 'adjustments' made.
- the shifter hits the shift plate in 2-5-R. I'm going to move the console. Not sure if I have the right shift lever or if the console is in the wrong spot.... either way, easy fix.
- Still need to hook up the electric speedo and the backup lights...

I got on it a little in 1st last night, the 1-2 is sizeable, but 1st is freaking deep. I'll have to play a little more this weekend in the daylight, outside of a residential neighborhood.

Still need to hook up the electric speedo and the backup lights...After an experience I had, I heartily recommend you also hook up the neutral safety switch (if you haven't already).

Congrats on the tranny!

I haven't but I plan too... there's a wiring diagram floating around right?

Sure is. Just like the factory, though you can use a relay if you want.

See if you can mount the shifter handle on the drivers side of the shifter base. There are also spacers sold to move the handles a little more.
