Here is a good pic of a stock 54 bleair, I want to change base color to a dark blue and then change roof and side insert color from white to a reddish pewter (not the bland pewter GM has but a redder version sometimes seen on the trucks and I have seen on Buick Lesabre, also similar to Eddie Bauer two tone see on the red trucks Ford has). then want to add these wheels--American Racing Rebel, (going 18" rear, 17" front by the way) pic attached and drop the whole car a few inches to give it a good ride height. Also, can ya delete out that rocker chrome molding and the chrome piece behind the front wheel, I am not fond of that. can anyone help me out on this? One of these days I will learn to do this myself, have a BA in Art outa college, but no time to play with this, gotta work for a living!!

Ok, allkar has the right idea, but i need the pewter color on the roof and my am racing wheels on it instead, cause I need to see what I have planned for it, so if anyone could adjust that yet. attaching a pewter that is close to what i want, maybe a little more reddish-brown is what I am after, but this is close enough. thanks

I am hoping you can still give this one a shot, appears nobody else wants to try. Appreciate it!

belair54,

I was doing a lot of this and it took up too much of my time. I don't mind helping out people but I needed to focus on automotive illustration.
It can take up to an hour sometimes doing "PhotoShop (Photo-chop)" work. My personal feeling is that doing freebies for people cut into a lot of my time and was not making any money at it. I personally would rather get paid to do the illustration work and make it into a personal custom piece. I cannot speak for others on this subject.

Here's a sample: https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/10/big_57lg1-1.jpg

latenight72,

It is relaxing but my work speaks for itself...and is very reasonable.
It seems to me that you are cheapening what talented artist's do. There are people willing to fork out a few dollars to do this and save their hobby time & money for quality work & Ideas to help them. It is a form of planning. Planning = savings

Too bad you see it as "Throwing Money away."

Might want to check who you're referring to on that one.. :drive2:

Trust me, if I could get paid for what I do, I would. I am in college so every little penny helps...

Bad choice of words on my part, "throwing money away" was harsh and unfair, but i still believe that most guys cant necessarily spend a few hundred bucks to get a really nice rendering done, I know many are cheaper than that, but at the same time, if all they are looking for is to see if an idea looks how they had hoped, getting guys like me to simply photochop something quickly to help them out is perfect. The community here is commited to helping one another and that is all I am trying to do. I am sorry you think I am cheaping your work as that is not what I am trying to do, I am just trying to help somebody else out on the forum.

I agree with young gun. I don't have the money to be able to throw 100 dollars down on a rendering. I'm already past my original budget (aren't we all?) However, i know if i had unlimited money i would definitely get a rendering done its nice to have a perfect visual representation of your projected project. Thank god i have a good imagination and am starting to learn how to use photoshop my quick chops may never be as good or detailed but it gives me an idea.

here is a photo of a car here locally that has the red/brown color I want to see on the roof/molding insert on my 54, if anyone can make those changes would be greatly appreciated-don't spend too much time on it, since I am not paying for it!!

you are getting so close, few mods. Can ya change to tan color to the attachment I just added to this post, then drop the rear fender skirt and remove the chrome on lower rocker and behind the front wheel, then just up the wheel size so they look like 17's in front, 18's in back (they seem a little small right now), then you have me pinned. I really do appreciate the hard work some of you have done, I know you are not getting paid for it, but like it was said earlier, I am not expecting a high dollar rendition of my car, just a visual so I can see if I am going the right direction.

you'll still have to remove the wheel chrome, apparently the OP can't 'imagine' what it looks like w/o:hmm:

Is that a wisecrack I detect? I can "imagine" what it looks like w/o that, what I had hoped to see is no fender skirt, the molding is really minor, but this is much closer to what I had pictured. Thanks again for those who are willing to give a low buck project a little initiative to get started!!

I dunno, maybe?
with what you wrote here:

just seems pretty picky for something you're getting for free.
I do some interior design work for my wife's business, and I do a lot of custom renderings for people, but only when I'm getting paid for it. these guys are putting in a lot of work on good faith. that's fine if that's what the like to do, but send him a gift card to a restaurant or something!
anyway, I don't really care, I'm just butting into your thing here, sorry to get involved.
