Old Pickup Towing Ratings...

My current tow vehicle is a 83 Chev 1 Ton Dually CC with a big block. The door sticker says a max of 10k for GVWR. I've been searchin the net for anything on max tow ratings for back then. Have to settle a discussion on comparing new trucks to old... Any ideas? Anyone had one and remember the numbers?

Honestly, the newer trucks out haul the old ones. I know many like to say that older is better, but we are here to make old cars more like new ones, sooo. . . .

If I remember right, the old one tons max tow rating was 12,000 pounds.

Mr. B, I was thinking along those lines too... maybe a bit more...

6'9... It has been upgraded a little bit... I did a 4L80E swap into it last year, which dropped 1k off the crusin rpm... With all of the headgasket, transmission problems I've seen with alot of the newer trucks, I'll keep the old girl... and it's paid for..!
