Hey guys, thought I would post an update on my car. I am damn near finished with a "Pro-Touring" conversion on my El Camino. I converted the drums to Wilwood discs (6 piston front/4 piston rear), added a narrowed Moser 9" with Tru-Trac and 3:70 gears, Global West trailing arms, QA1 coil overs/shocks, and Forgeline VR3P's. For all of the big ticket items, I want say thank you to Frank and Lisa Sarafin at Prodigy Customs/GP Superstore for all of their help, probably wouldn't have happened without you guys!

Looks great! I usually think those style wheels are too 'modern' for an older car, but I think they tie in nicely with the chrome molding on the side.

Now do something about that exhaust!

I want to do something, any suggestions? I was thinking about just dumping it right in back of the rear end. I am not happy with the way my mufflers sound so this will probably be the next thing I do.

Trust me, I would love to have my car featured in PHR! That has been my dream since we built the car when I was 16 (10 years ago). So if you are reading Steve, please keep me in mind when you are looking for a car to feature :naughty:

Thanks, it has taken a lot of time and money as well as a lot of headaches! I am happy with the way it turned out.

WOW! i loove it! very nice man, mind telling me your tire and wheel sizes?

Thanks for the compliments!

Tire sizes are 245/35-19 front (19" X 8.5", 5.25" backspace), 285/30-20 rear (20" X 9.5", 4.5" backspace). Tires are Toyo T1R's (good looking tires IMO) The rear backspace is a little deceiving because the rear end has been narrowed 1" per side. I wanted a little deeper dish on the rear wheels, and I ended up with about 4.125" of lip on the rears.

thats the sizes i want to use for my GTO, and i did think about narrowing my rear end so i could get a wider lip, i was thinking 4 inch back space but i thought that would make the wheel axward. but seeing you did 4.5 that changes my mind. once again very beautiful elky man.

Be careful with what you use for the rear backspacing. I have about 1/2" inner/outer clearance withe 4.5" BS, with no clearance issues with the rear end articulated. I spent the time to take the proper measurements so I didn't have any problems. Each car is different so be sure and take measurements! Hope this helps a little bit. I was going through the same thing you were about 6 months ago

Jason...it was nice meeting you today at the Tucson Classic Car show. I gotta say these pics don't do your car justice. That thing is AWESOME!! I don't think there was a more perfect paint job out there. Very very nice! Any mag would be lucky to get your car in there. Best of luck!
