I'm building a 1970 Maverick and looking to get creative with the front suspension. Is the Mustang II unit really a high performance option? I've driven a few rods with them and found it good but not great. I must lose the shock towers due to the size of the motor going in and really want to make this a drivers car. Any input and product education would be very helpful and appreciated, plus cost is a big factor so I can't just buy top dollar stuff.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Stock Mustang II is not really performance oriented. I'm sure some others will chime in with their thoughts. One option may be to go with Art Morrison's IFS setup. One consideration when putting these types of front suspension setups into your car is that the unibody was designed to carry the load up through the shock tower, so you will more than likely have to do some bracing and support for the front framerails to carry the load of the spring perch or coilover mount.

If you want to go 'scrap yard' and get a duel A arm suspension, big brakes, 4 pots, PS, have a look under a Jaguar.

Substantial subframe (ugly though) buut I made a jig and my own subframe.

Not the easiest to find either.

Chevrolet bolt pattern makes wheel choice easier.

Just a thought, please don't flame me on my first post!!!!

Relax man! Are we that bad? I think you'll find this group quite appreciative of home-garage ingenuity as well as super-buck mega-builds

I knew I'd like this place :worship:

I'll sort some pics and details of my 92 GT that i'm playing with, maybe some of the Chevy truck too once it starts to go back together.
