Will anyone join in for the NASA 11 November HPDE at Infineon Raceway? It should be great again, as it always is. There's talk of the gang collecting and have some fun Saturday 10 Nov in Wine Country. If you want to make a Weekend of it.
I think I have the track bug...I am glad I run white letter T/A's as they last along time, and are cheap to replace!

Just checked the forecast and...Oh no! Rain again! You SoCal guy's are so lucky. I hope it is a good solid rain, as last time it wasn't. One session the track was wet in one turn dry in another which made it very unpredictable. Very spooky! Which was no fun at all. I hope I don't wreck my car, as Infineon has very poor run-off areas. Maybe it just the indoor go cart time of year for NorCal.

Good luck, driving in the rain is great for experience sake, but can be hard on the sheet metal.

I lucked out the rain was completed early Sunday morning. The weather was dry and cool, and the rains remnants amounted to some puddles before turn 7. The the sessions started out awful and ended excellent. Now from bad to good. The first session the car was over steering horribly and I got he car very sideways everywhere even in daunting turn 10, and had to reach deep in my bag of tricks to get through it. I wondered what had happened? I checked the tire temperatures after the cool off lap and found the rear at about 145F (good) the front to be only about 105F (not good). I found that the sway bar end links had come very loose, so the front of the car wasn't working. I tightened the sway bar end links and went out in the next session. The difference was astounding. The car was working again except I was gaining more speed on the straights than I previously did and was having trouble with the rear brakes locking going into 6,7, and 11. I took one turn of bias out. The result in the next session: It was coming together, and by the final session I was able to lean on the throttle quite a bit, and it felt great. I was a great day. I need to make a list of things to tighten in the future, as a lot of track use has a way of loosening things up.

Yes, things can come loose. Mary's trans mount bolts fell out at an autocross reciently! We also re-checked the sub frame to Unibody bolts and they were around 60 foot pounds where they were torqued to 110 when installed.
Thanks for the report! :)

You can go. It's very easy to run in a NASA event. All that is required is a car that will pass a simple tech inspection, the money, a '95 or later DOT approved helmet (M type are fine). They even supply an instructor when you are starting out, and you get to ride with the instructor on their sessions too (double track time). You can run other track schools too. I'm sure there are some good ones. Others that have experience with them could guide you there.
