Here is my new wheel/tire combo for the Chevelle.

Boyd Coddington "Junkyard Dog - Old School Gray"
Front: 18x8 with 4.0" backspacing
Rear: 18x10 with 5.5" backspacing
wheels were around ~$1600/set shipped

Tires are custom modified BFG KDW2, with the red lines added on by Diamond Back Classics.
Front: 245/40-18
Rear: 295/35-18
Tires were around ~$1400/set shipped

The wheel centers are not painted, they appear to be glass bead blasted aluminum and are bare. In direct sunlight, the blasted area sparkles pretty cool. It was getting dark, so these are the best pics I could get for now. The car is factory ride height, and I had to roll the rear fender lips to make sure these tires would not rub. I use an Eastwood fender roller on my cars, works great.

Those look great! and I agree the redlines are a nice touch...
Looks like the front could come down a bit.....IMO..
That car is BEAUTIFUL!

haha, yeah I agree. The front didn't have a chance to settle for these pics. I mounted them, backed down the driveway and shot the photos before it got dark. Then I went for a spin around the block and the front sits level again.

Plus, the trunk is full of cast iron BBC parts, I mean FULL.

Yeah, that is my fault for not driving the car around before snapping the photos. It was getting dark, so I just put the wheels on and backed out of the garage for pics. The front didn't settle yet, until after I drove it around the block. Funny pics, it looks like I have an SBC with BBC springs up front ;)

How much frame clearance do you have on the inside with the 5.5" BS? I'm going to 18X11's with 315's and figure I can get away with 6.25 to 6.5" but have to do some careful measuring to be sure.

Thanks

I reached back there and had plenty of room with these 295s. I'll bet 305 wide would fit nicely too.

That is awesome.

I really, really want 18" Goodyear F1 redlines for the GTO, I just can't justify the $ right now.

Tony,
Looking good.
Normally I do not care for a redline tire on that type of wheel/tire combo.
But in this case it really POPS!

Diamond will buy the tires and modify them for you, that is what I did.

Wheels and tires look great Tony! Wish we could have done the deal for you, but I understand Tomz is a sponsor on LS1tech. Tires look perfect and match your car very well. You have a great eye for design...

Wow...stunning tire & wheel combo indeed!

I personally would darken the spokes up slightly which would give the car a more "muscular" look but if you like it...that's all that matters.

Sweet. I just ordered tires for my Chevelle project. Ordered a set of Nitto 295/25/22s and 245/30/20s all gonna be mounted on Budnik Gasser D. I was worried about the tires clearing in the back but I also have a 5.5 backspace so now im a little relieved

Nice Car!! I think I would have used a little larger profile tire. They are just alittle too small for my taste. Still a gorgeous car though... :)

They look great and the package rocks.:hail: If you don't mind I stole a picture to place in the media forum (here) to see if some one could show me what these would look like with the Rally green on a 69 Camaro. These are the wheels that i have had in mind for my build but haven't been able to get word if they are available in 18" or 19" x 12" wide. After seeing these pics I'll probably go ahead and order them 10" wide and have the extra 2" speacially welded in. If I can get the back space close to what I want.:firefire:

Absolutly LOVE the look! But you'll hate the tread life of the KDWs.. i run them on my DD Audi, and after one summer they are already lookin a lil low:hmm: Beautiful car man!
