I have been asking everybody I know if they know how I could get an admission to SEMA this year. No luck so far. I've even offered to carry tables or whatever. Anybody got any ideas? Maybe I should apply for a job with the food service at the conv center for a day.

I work construction in the SF bay area. I took part in the DynoMax Power To The Wheels tour in Reno this year and thought maybe I could find a way to wangle something out of them but, no go. Only the top ten finishers get to go. Tenth on the list made 500(and change)hp. I'm waaaay down the list.

they do that so it creates an enviornment for manufacturers to speak directly to perspective businesses who may want to buy their products. It creates a target rich enviornment for sellers. I've wanted for years to take my brother and father but no dice. Sucks but I get why.

I purchase something over $50,000. in parts and accessories for customers cars every year. Much of that from advertisers on this site.
If SEMA is not for people like me, is there a show that wants the installers as their target audience? Frankly, other than the internet and sites such as this, I don't know how I am supposed to stay on top of what is new to the market.

If your buying that much you should have a business license. That and some other documents will get you in.

Heck as much as I spend a Summit, I should be on their list of preferred customers invited. That's how I see it:guilty: .
Does SEMA charge a business for admission passes?

Yes, I have a business license, but I don't think that will get me in SEMA. From what I understand they are only interested in distributors/dealers etc. I'm not interested in buying as a dealer, only would like the opportunity to see what's out there, new products etc. and pick up ideas for future builds and techniques. My local Carquest dealer has offered to take me out with him, but from what I'm hearing he will have to put me on his payroll for me to get in on his ticket.

Thanks for the compliment. His son Buddy has offered for several years for me to go with him. I just don't think I can hang with him at Vegas. I'm past the years of chasing tail and all night drinking, which is really what he goes to SEMA for.

If you have a business license you should be ok. I used to run an online speedshop and I got in a few years back.

Just apply. You'll get in.

So the average Joe can't get into SEMA? I thought they had a week for Buissnesses and a week for the public?
