My dads cop car has Black paint and its got swirl marks all over it, and he says i gotta take it out...not sure why...

But anyways whats the best way to get it out? I have a 6" buffer/sander available with 2 speed setting from ryobi i used for sanding.

Any help would be thankful.

Make sure it has speeds under 2000 rpm. clean it wipe it down and use swirl remover. Might have to use a compound first but im unsure. hopefully an es-pert will chime in.

What type of swirl remover would you use?

I use System one throughout the whole buff process but 3M makes the swirl remover. They renamed it. http://www.autogeek.net/3mperswirmar.html

that stuff, 1200 rpm and a black foam pad usually does it.

I use a porter cable DA polisher with foam pads and Menzerna polishes. Start with Intensive polish and finish with the PO106 (ceramic) polish. Usually does the trick!

FOAM PAD! You will just move the swirls around if you use a wool pad. Any good swirl remover will work. 3M, Mothers, Meguiers (SP?), etc.

I agree with 83 Hurst (almost). the porter cable with foam pads is the best way to go bt I have never used menzerna products. I have been using Sonus products with great sucess though. You can find a wealth of information at www.autopia.org
