I was told that this engine came out of a 1991 Mustang Gt with around 60,000 miles on it. Just got the heads off today and everything looks pretty good, just really needs to be cleaned up.

What would be best to do at this point?

Eagle 347 Stroker kit along with GT-40 Heads and upper and lower intake, and throw a bigger cam in it but not to big. Helped my friend with his 90 Foxbody same combo as above (not sure on the cam though) and that thing freakin moved lol Stock auto tranny, stall, rear he ran a 7.43 in the 1/8 on Falken 452

I give you the old racer's quote
"Speed Costs Money... how fast you wanna go?"

Go to www.ohiocrank.com they have some great deals on cranks and rotating assemblies for the 347 stroker and I like them better than the Eagle stuff (had some dealer issues).
And if you dont mind a "blem" crank (ie its a .010 under crank) you can get a 4340 crank for a song.
I have been sellin g them all summer and they are good stuff.
And a sfor me the money well spent is a good set of heads and a custom cam (i like Cam Motion, they always set me up right) or Comp cams for off the shelf stuff.
Good Luck

PS as for the heads you can orderup a set of World Products heads and get some great bang for the buck.

I do need to state... the 302/347 conversion has somewhat fallen from grace in the last few years.
The stroke on the 347 has proven to be too long for the Ford 302 block and the piston rocks violently the end of it's travel, wearing the rings prematurely.
Most guys are going with the 331 conversion now, which has a slightly shorter stroke (3.25") is much more more durable.
It's basically a Chevy 327

not only that but the 347 requires a piston with a very low compression height... which doesn’t leave allot of material there to stand up to any kind of forced induction especially nitrous
