Let me start off by saying this is a great forum. I have been browsing this forum for some time now and decided to join. It seems people are very friendly, helpful, and have many good suggestions and ideas.
I will be turning 30 very shortly and WILL be getting a project Camaro. While growing up I spent a LOT of time at my fathers performance shop (I droped out of school and worked for his bussiness for 8-9 years) My dads '69 Camaro ran 9.2's back in the 90's. It now sits in a barn with a fresh paintjob and needs reasembly. (NOT FOR SALE, dont even ask) That car brought trophies home from Autorama and several other big shows back in the day. Cars have been a part of my life since day 1. My Grandfather owns a Chevy Dealership and my Mom always drove the newest, coolest cars. Cars are in my bloodline...literally.
I am in the process of obtaining a 67 Camaro 6 cylinder in stock untouched shape. It sat in a barn for 12 years and was a california car until its move to Michigan and the barn. It is in great shape with a small rust hole in the drivers side rear window and the trunk floor has some small rust holes. Otherwise it seems in great shape (until I actually take it apart I won't know for sure)
I plan to put '07 Corvette Z06 rims on it (18's front/ 19's rear) and would like to know what I will NEED to complete this task. I Know I will need a mini tub kit....what are some suggestions? I will be on a limited budget, but I don't expect it to see the road till next spring/summer. I have plenty of tools...Tig welder, Milling machine, Bandsaws, air compessor, and more. I want to give the car the proper stance first and foremost. I will also be upgrading the suspension and brakes at the same time.....Drum brakes suck!
What are some cost effective ways to get wheels, brakes and suspension done? I would love to buy a new subframe with all the goodies, but I think it's a little out of my price range. I have seen others on here use the stock subframe with new suspension components bolted or welded on. I will be doing different stages of upgrades thoughout the years.
1.) Wheels, Suspension, Brakes
2.) Interior, Trunk, Firewall clean-up,
3.) Engine & Trans....undecided....
4.) Under car detail, a few Body mods, and Paint
If anyone has suggestions, I would Greatly Appreciate them!:pics2:

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Welcome aboard. I'm new here too.

Looks like you got a really good starting point. Not much help on a Camaro but for your suspension needs I'd suggest SC & C for some cost effective upgrades. ATS has some cool mods for the stock subframe also.

Good luck on your project.

Welcome to the site and nice starting point.

Do NOT underestimate the stock subframe. ATS and SC&C are the way to go and will steer you right.

If you have the money for the DSE minitub kit, do that. If cash is tight and opportunity cost is necessary, use some 14ga sheet, cut the stock inner tub and move it inward then fill it with the sheetmetal. That is an old school trick used today for every other car DSE doesn't make a mini tub for.

welcome the PT.com from a fellow 67 owner, my advice is not to rush it. You have a good starting point and I would just take my time and do it right, with the amount of options available today, it can be overwhelming but well worth the wait when it is finished (if there is such a thing).
