Australian made 3rd gen F-bodys had them. different but about as strong as 7.5-7.65 10 bolts

The rear end's were shipped to the US by Holden, who used them in their cars.

They're made by (or at least licensed by) Borg Warner and were considered an upgrade to the 10 bolts in 3rd gens. The problem is you're not going to find parts for them cheaply.

I wasn't planning on buying it, I have a 10 bolt GN rear currently. I have just never heard of such a thing. Thanks

My 89 IROC came with one, also the Buick Grand National used it.
Supposed to be stronger than the regular rear but not all that great, they still broke.

You sure the Buick GN had it too? The rear I have is from a GN & it is a 8.5" 10 bolt rear.

I wasn't aware that anything but the F-bodies ever got them. They are slightly stronger than the 7.5/7.625 (not that that's saying a whole lot). Harder to find parts for, and fewer ratios to choose from. A friend of my son's actually GAVE me one of those things with 3.27's in it.

I sold a spare one to a guy with a turbo 6 cyl Buick who was drag racing it. They are having problems finding gear sets since this rear axle is not very common. He was quite happy to get not only the posi but the gears too. I still have the housing but it's bent since it's out of a wrecked TA.
