With cruising weather fast approaching us desert dwellers I was thinking it may be time for us AZ members to get together and put some faces with the names. I know we have quite a few guys in the north valley, at least 4 that I can think of, and some more out in the east valley.

So chime in guys and lets come up with a time and a place.

I'll start us off with suggestion, Fox Sports Grille on Scottsdale Rd, early to mid-October?

What date you thinking of?

jknight16

I can do it any weekend we want really, or even weekdays for that matter, doesn't matter to me. I'll leave it up to those among us with kids, wives, vacations, etc. to propose some dates.

I should be back on the road by Oct. How about the Sat. night car show at Safeway ... 83rd ave just north of Beardsley?

jknight16
09-06-2007, 12:41 PM
That would definitely work for me. Any idea what particular saturday it is, or do they do them every saturday?

As far as I know, it's every Saturday ... if the weather's okay. I've been there 3 or 4 times ... always 25+ cars there ... big variety.
Seems like people get there while the sun is still out ... maybe 5:30 ish? I'm planning to meet with JackRS tomorrow to see his car.

Anyone else out there??????? Esp. 1st gen Camaro ?????

Hi Guys,

Clay Inskeep here of OPM Customs in Tempe. I am definately down to meets everyone. I will meet anywhere, but would like to offer up my shop as a meeting spot. We are at Broadway and Rural, right next to the university, and would be a great "jumpin off" point for a cruise.

Ok guys, I set up a multiple choice poll so fill out what Saturday(s) will work best for you and we'll go with a simple majority.

As for the location, thank you for offering up your shop Clay. If it is agreeable to everyone else, Especially for this first event, it might be good to meet up at OPM customs in Tempe on one of the saturday's noted above, hang out for a bit, and determine a cruise destination at that point.

I also really like the idea of the Safeway show, since its much friendlier for our West Valley contingent. Any other suggestions? I'm all ears!

I wish I had a running car to bring out. I'd like to meet local people from here as well as Clay from OPM. Mark from Lateral D says he's a real cool dude and I may be in need of his services soon.

I hope this catches on so I can catch a meet in the future. Too many imports running around in packs in Phx at night and no pro-tourers.

Have fun and be safe guys. Or just don't get caught.

I'm in for the Safeway location, just as long as no show going on. Looks like several shows coming up soon.

Im on the west side too, so Safeway would work great for me as well, maybe for future meets.

Are there any objections to inviting the AZ members of Latera-G if they arent already members here?

I live in Surprise AZ, I'm up for the Safeway cruise, I've been there a few times I have a gray 68 Firebird. I can make it there any Saturday. Anyone going tomorrow?

Jeff K., were you in Flagstaff today car show? A buddy called while he was there and told me about a black camaro with fiberglass tilt front end.

won't be making safeway tonight, ufc fight is on tonight and its free!!

The Safeway show can get sorta big, if we do decide to use that venue we may want to do it on the south side of the parking lot considering it would be much easier to find eachother there rather that get all mixed up in the general car show population and not have a clue who all the members are.

Jack, yep, that was me! I installed the last part (new alternator) on Friday at 1:30 pm and hit the road at 2:00 pm. It was the first real miles since all of my PT upgrades started over a year ago. We drove it there and back with no problems at all. Very cool.

I see no problem with getting the Lateral G guys involved, more the merrier. thanks for helping to get the word out 70Two.

It looks like people are gravitating towards the later-October weekend, so I guess we'll let the word continue to spread and get some more votes before deciding.

No problem. I will post up a thread on Lateral-G to get those guys involved.

My vote is for Oct. 20th.....Maybe my car will be back on the road again. I have never taken it up to Phoenix, so that may be a good test for all of the new parts : )

I'm glad to see that we're getting so many votes for one date, hopefully that will translate into a good attendance at OPM Customs. I'm thinking that this coming saturday I'll try and get out to the Safeway show. So if anyone sees a weird looking black camaro driving around lost, flag me down!!

Since Clay voted for October 20th and we're going to be meeting at his shop (OPM Customs)...then October 20th it is!! We've got more than a month until then so plenty of time to get the word out. Even if it's just the 9 we have now I'm sure it will be a good time.

Alright, well have a good weekend all. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you out on the westside at the Safeway show tomorrow (Saturday) at around 5:00 or so. See you then.

Oct. 20th is the show at Westgate Plaza in front of the Coyotes arena. and the 13th is the Kool fm car show at Fort Mcdowell Casino. I'm planning on going to Sedona next weekend for some show on the Golf course up there, lets just hope no one is playin' through!! I will also probably be at 83rd Saturday night, probably later when it cools down a "little".

Not sure how it became OPM ... Safeway is better for me.

Maybe I need to clarify a little bit here. We're going to use OPM for the Oct 20th gathering since it is a more central location and will help to get our east valley (and even Tucson) members involved. Further, Clay may be a great local resource for those of us still working on our cars and this will be a great way to get to know him.

The Safeway show is something that we can do any weekend and it looks like we probably will. For instance, I'm heading up there tomorrow and I'll be meeting up with 70Two, if not others as well. So if Safeway works for you, come on over!

jknight16

So here we are, October 1... 20 days and counting for those of you trying to get your cars rolling in time for the gathering at OPM Customs. Not to add any pressure or anything....

Many thanks to Clay and the guys at OPM Customs, they were gracious hosts for us chuckleheads on Saturday and I think we will all benefit from getting to know other local PT guys. Further, I think we can all agree that we have an invaluable resource in Clay and OPM.

I look forward to our next gathering, whatever that may be...swap meet anyone...
