Hey Everyone,

As some of you may know, ZBugger and I work for Goodies Speed Shop in San Jose, CA.

The Store
Here's the short history of the shop...Back in about 1960 a speed shop named Goodies Speed Shop opened in San Jose. In 1971 the business was sold and liquidated. Later in 1971 a shop named Speed Merchant opened in the same building. Speed Merchant held its own until it was sold to Pro-Touring.com member Tracy Edmonds this year.

As of March 2007 the shop has been renamed Goodies Speed Shop and is not only supporting all the previous hot rodding customers, it is also supporting the Pro-Touring and fabrication community.

The New Stuff
Tracy has injected new life into the store by increasing inventory and becoming the largest stocking dealer for Detroit Speed & Engineering on the West Coast! This is great news for all you West Coast guys who don't want to wait a week for UPS Ground. If you want it fast, give me or Allen a call and we'll get you what you need.
http://www.detroitspeed.com/ (http://www.detroitspeed.com/)

We're also the largest stocking dealer on the West Coast for Pro-Werks fabrication products for all you fabricators.
http://www.pro-werks.com/ (http://www.pro-werks.com/)

Goodies Speed Shop is also a large distributor for other Pro-Touring equipment manufacturers such as: Baer Brakes, Global West, Hotchkis, Air Ride Technologies, Wilwood Brakes, Koni, etc.

The Pro-Touring Get Together
To celebrate the new Goodies Speed Shop we are having a huge open house party on Saturday, September 29th from 8AM to 4PM. There will be a live band, food, drinks and high-performance parts as raffle prizes. There will also be "Show Special" sale prices on MAJOR brands.

Liz Miles from the TV show "American Hod Rod" will be on hand. We will also have some racecars showing up, including at least one alcohol dragster.

Bring your appetite and your Pro-Touring street machine to the event. We hope to see you there.

Liz Miles has a TV show? I met her at the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton a few months back. Had I known she was a celebrity...

If you guys want to show off your cars in our parking lot, we have about 30 spaces left. First come first serve. There will be plenty of other parking around the store, but the parking lot will be designated for car show parking.

If you want to come early and leave early, that's fine. If you want to stay all day, that's fine too. This is all for fun.

Hey Guys,

How many of you are planning on coming to the Goodies Speed Shop Grand Opening? If you are planning on it, are you bringing your car to park in the exhibition area? I don't want to say "Car Show" parking since it's not really a show, it's more of a "exhibition" of your hot rod. There's only about 20 spaces left after the Top Alcohol Funnycar, Top Fuel Dragster, Goodies Speed Shop (Gulf painted) Camaro and some other cars slated to be there.

I'm just trying to get a feel for how many spaces will be taken up by hot rods. :)

Bring your appetite. We just confirmed Mojo Burger for food at the event.

Bring your credit card. We will have some major brands on SPECIAL SALE. These prices and brands can't be shown here. The prices will be a ONE DAY ONLY deal.

Steve,

Come out even if you don't get the TKO done. It'll be a good time with or without your car.

Vince,

The event officially starts at 8AM. If you get to the event earlier it's up to you. We'll be there early to get the two dragsters and the funny car off the trailers.

Tony - another time for sure. I think we met way back when you first built your Camaro. Anyway, we can get together whenever - I drive the car at least one day a week normally. Although I just lost my brake lights, not sure why - need to troubleshoot that and fix it - I don't want to drive around in this traffic too much w/o brake lights. Anyway - I live and work in San Jose. Office is near Santana Row.

I hope its just a broken distributor shaft...if its not, a nice LS6 and T56 will take its place.

Thanks again, the next time we meet up Gina and I will buy dinner. Its people like you that makes this site a great place to be!

Oh yeah, thanks to Allen for finding my flaws. Live long and prosper with that pretty vulcan.

Is that what the ticking was??

I had an AWESOME time. The turnout was great. Good cars were there, and it was cool getting to meet a few more faces to put with the screennames. The vair faired pretty well, but lost a throw out bearing in the process. But oh well, I needed to pull the engine again anyway.

This little event was just what I needed. My family thought it was cool, and it may just have lit a fire under my brother to get his car running.
my sister in law shot this on the way down. This is what it's all about. Driving whatcha got.

Cool Tony I can't wait to see the pictures...I should have called in sick today as it was a mad house...9 warranty jobs that had to go. All in all I worked 10 1/2 hours and was paid 6.5 hours for my reward...flat rate. Gotta love it.

Im hoping it is just the oil pump drive shaft. I will pull it out Sunday and strip er down. Its been acting funny the last few days. I've been wanting to fix the headers and powder coat the frame anyways.

Figures, I got 4 messages about the car tonite...oh well. Roll on

And now for the pics I got before the camera died. First the batteries, then the memory card failed. I lost like 40 pictures and the video of the dragster running. :(

Thanks a BUNCH to everyone that showed up. The even was OUTSTANDING!!! I'd call it a great success. I lost count of all the cars that showed up. From Dean Tognotti in his LSx powered RX7, to Charley Lillard and Jody Bernard in the Mule, and everyone else from this site that I missed. It was a great show. And DAMN those dragsters were loud.

Mary and David, thanks a ton for the help. Fernando was a great tow truck driver and only hit on Sarah once while I was out of the truck. I just wish I could have driven the car home. And thanks to Brett for helping push the car. There's a bunch of great people on this site that are always willing to help out. That's what makes this site great.

Thanks for all of the Goodie's Speed staff for hosting this awesome day. Wonderful cars and people, super parts deals from Goodie's (spent a few dimes on DSE second-gen parts and sound deadener, and a book), great food and entertainment, and a place where the cars were the stars for a day.

I took a gazillion photos and these made the cut. Didn't want to post them individually as the Nikon D80 doesn't know the meaning of a "small" photograph but check 'em out on my Zenfolio link.

And even the weather was special ordered . . .

Anyways, enjoy the photos. http://www.zenfolio.com/marypozzi/p849619277/

It really was a great day... despite my multi-mile hike to find a new fan belt when driving in (yeah that's the last straw, its serpentine time)
It was great to meet some new faces, great to see some old ones. I almost felt guilty pulling my functional-ugly auto-xer into the lot with all those awesome looking rigs

Never worry... I brought my faded paint and rust holes in the bottoms of my front fenders. They're functional too, natural galvanic body weight reduction. :rotfl:

I missed the shop's Gulf painted Camaro, which is one of the main reasons I came in the first place. I had to bail by noon or so and it wasn't there by the time I had to leave. Maybe next time.

Very good turnout though. Thanks to the guys that put it on!

I didn't drop much under 85 the entire way home and still pulled off just shy of 18mpg. Yay!
