1.) How is a fuel pressure gauge mounted to the LS1 fuel rail? Is the capped off end cut off and then tapped for threads and the gauag screwed on with some teflon sealer? If so...what size fitting is needed on that gauge.
2.) Is a fuel pressure regulator required for an in-tank pump? I am having my stock tank modified by Rock Valley.
3.) Lastly, If I'm running an in-tank pump on my LS1 conversion...is it required that I have a return from the fuel filter (or regulator)? And if so....why?

Hey Tony,
If you are set up with a regulator in the tank that sets your rail pressure, then you don't need a return line. You may find that the filter causes a pressure drop but that should be tunable either at the ECM or at the regulator.

Thanks John, I added some other questions if you look at the thread again. Can I get your opinions on those too? Thanks.

I'd guess some of the in-tank pumps have an integrated regulator, but you don't have to use it. I think the converse is true too. Hopefully somebody else more savvy on in-tank pumps can chime in.

Thanks John. I might just take you up on that.

No problem at all. Send it on down and I'll have it ready in a day or two.

I used a C5 FPR to regulate the pressure in the vette I am building. I used a walbro 255 intank pump from Racetronix.
As for the fuel rail, is that not an AN fitting on the end with the valve in it? Meaning could you not just remove the valve and screw an AN fitting onto the end. You'd have to potentially run a hose to another location where the gauge is mounted though. I know there are N2O wet systems out there that take the fuel off the rail and it's an adapter that is used.
If the fuel pressure is externally regulated, you will have to run a return line. This is the biggest reason people use the C5FPR along with a single feed fuel rail. My FPR is mounted under the tank in the back so my return line is very short and doesn't run the length of the car like the original did.

We use NOS16770, and remove the schraeder valve. If you need one, we have them in stock. It is a female #4 swivel to #4 male with 1/8"NPT female gauge port. Just cap the male end if you arent running nitrous.
