What cars do these trannys come in?

1994-2002 F-bodies (Camaro's, Trans-Am's, Firebird's). They either came with a V-6 (3.8 liter) or a V-8 (5.7 liter). I'm assuming there may be minimal differences between the two, but I'd like to know if either can be used behind an LT-1 (circa 94-95). Are there any durability issues with the 3.8 T-56?

The 3.8 F-bodys used a T5 not a T56.

The 6 cylinders did'nt have 6 speeds. They had 5 speeds. It was the GM version of the T-5. I Would use a T-56 from 94 and up to I think 96. I believe that 97 is when they had the change from LT1 to LS1. The 93 T-56 was a lower torque rating.

Tuff68 is close, but the LS1 swap over was in 98.

Okay, Okay, I'm a dumbass. On my way to work this morning (an hour drive) I'm thinking about the transmissions and it hits me..........there never was a 6-spd for the V-6 you freakin' moron! :pat: So now my question is, will the V-6 5spd bolt up to the LT-1, and are there durability issues with it?

I think it does bolt up, since the lt1 has the standard bolt pattern.

I have an lt-1 t-56 that I'm not going to use though (decided to go ls1 rather than Gen I sbc), let it go for what I paid.

Unless you buy a 97/98 vette :)

But I think the different 1st gear went in to both the 98 vettes and F-bods.

We aren't talking transaxles here so, the statement still stands.
