These are the 17x9" Snowflakes that I ordered from Year One for my 77 Y81 Special Edition Trans Am.
I originally ordered them in natural (i.e. no paint) because I thought/think the Year One gold paint scheme didn't use enough gold, so instead I had them painted gold by the resto shop (Transformation Restorations).

Backspacing is 5" all around. Will be running 285/40 out back and 275/40 up front.

I like your gold. I think the center cap ruins them. A nice modern flat cap gives them a lot of depth.

OK now I am officially jealous. They look fantastic and I can't wait to get a set on my 79. One day I will have my own to polish and drool on. Thanks for the pics Jon

I agree ditch the caps for some flat caps and ill by a set for my malibu.Either way those wheels are too sweet.
Can't use flat caps as the hub sticks through the hole on the front. Unless you're talking about the smooth center caps found on the 79-81 cars. Those hex center caps are the 77-78 style. I think I have that right. I know my 79 has the smooth ones.

Actually you've got it just backwards... the plastic hex caps were introduced on the 79 10th Anniversary T/A and were then used in 80 & 81. Before that it was the smooth steel caps from 77-79 (non 10th cars). The smooth steel ones are no longer available from GM and nobody repops them.
As for the center caps, I actually prefer them, they tie the wheels back to their predecessors perfectly IMO. But if I was putting these wheels on anything but a T/A I'd definitely want something different. But on a T/A I think they're perfect. Each to his own I guess....

Figures I'd get it backwards. I've been screwing simple things up for weeks now. Doesn't matter though, they look badass.

My car is in the middle of a full resto right now, so it may be a few months before it gets to the point where mounting them is necessary... or even possible... but don't worry... I'll be sure to post pics when the time comes!

WOW all I can say is wow. Those look awsome. so awsome, I think they would look killer painted black on my silver 91z28.... BUT, at $500 a wheel, I may have to think about it more. make sure you post pics the monet you get them on the car.

Are you sure those aren't 17s? They sure look to have a stepped lip. Year One's 17s are are stepped lip, but and the 18s have a rolled lip (see pics).

Wow! You know your chit. I guess he ended up going with 17's. They look damn good nonetheless.

Do you happen to know what backspacing his are? Also any idea what size tires he's running on them?
Van B

He ended up with 275 40/ZR17 tires. Wheel sizes and backspacing? Geez, I thought he had 18" wheels for cryin' out loud. I remember him telling me something like 4 or 4.5" backspace with a 17 x 9 wheel.
I can find out for sure tomorrow.
