Well im pulling the engine this month and had some questions on the firewall and painting the compartment and such.
1. I wont be smoothing by laying a flat piece of sheetmetal down .
I was curious if i sanded and cleaned the firewall if anyone had put filler in the nouks and crannies to get a smoother look? If so what did you use to fill.
2. I am going to paint the firewall and wheel wells, rad support and everything under the hood. Can i use a can of good spray paint or should it be from a shop type of spray gun paint. If i can use spray paint what brand and such do you guys recommend?
3. Also going to clean the frame. What should i use to paint the frame?
Does anyone have pics of there engine bay cleaned but not smoothed by a piece of sheetmetal. This is my first undertaking of the engine compartment and i want it done right and so it will draw attention.
4. One other question. The acces. like the brake booster, wiper motor and such. What did you paint these parts with? is can spraypaint ok or a big no no.
Thanks guys for all your help.

Jeff

1. You can use a light weight filler, nothing fancy needed.
2. You can spray paint, I used Krylon gloss black. It all depends if you want to match the body and how noce you want it.
3. I used Rustoleum rusty metal primer and there paint on my frame. It's very strong.
4. I used Krylon on all my extra's.
I'll see if I have any pic's.

The best thing I did to make under the hood look good is to paint under the hood the same color as the car.

the last part you said is the hard part. Its all black right now. So ill just paint it black and make it look nice. But in a few years i fgure ill change the color and my decision is keep it black or paint it the body color too. The paints and stuff you said i figured thats what i should use just wanted some opinions. sunkistcamaro, if you have pics i would def like to see how it could look. you can email them to [email protected].

Thanks.
