The body shell is completly stripped and heading to get blasted on tuesday. no so far the only flaw underneath is a driver side floor board need replaced. But really wont know till it get all blasted. SO after I replace what is needed underneath What steps and products do I need to finish it up. and what do you recomend in paint I want eaither gloss or flat black. But maybe someone can take me through the steps from after the the floor pan is welded to painted and finished underneath.

after my car was media blasted it still had some under coating on it.to remove I used a torch and heated it up and putty knifed the rest off.after that i sanded the surface then sprayed epoxy primer.after that I used this stuff a buddy told me about that is like bedliner material.it has a slight gloss to it and it is applied with a special spits gun.very durable finish.my car is being built to be driven daily so a super glossy underside was not so critical.hope this helps.good luck

not to much to this other than finsih grinding ur welds. We usually undercoat our cars at BOS after paint and all because its a little tuff to get sanding residue out of the nooks and crannys. If ur just going to paint it go right ahead and epoxy prime it and then paint it with whatever color u want. If ur going to undercoat it ( recomended if your going to drive the car frequently) then just spray some DP90 on there and wait till the cars painted to undercoat. The other advantage to doing this last is you don't have to worry about getting overspray in the wheel wells or the underside. Lewt me know what ur going to do and I can give u further instruction. Good Luck

The dp90 or a good epoxy is the place to start. Depending on how long it will sit before being painted you may be able to wet on wet the bottom. That would save you having to sand the epoxy prior to topcoating. Do your light BW around the patch, epoxy then paint the same day. We use a Wurth product for coating those cars that are goin to be driven alot, has the texture of a fine chip guard.

Are you on a lift or jig?

good luck.......

Wurth stuff is the best. Expensive but the best chip guard IMO. As for the sanding the dp90. You will have to like you said but a good scuff with a red scotchbrite is best.

Gordz,

Can the Wurth stuff be applied via brush or roller? I want to do my underbody stuff at home and spraying in the garage will probably not be an option.

If that product is incompatible can you recomend something that would work?

Thanks,

it sprayable but you need the gun for it. you could do it in your garage as long as you have a compressor. You other option is the spray bomb type. I'm not aware of any roll on types.

My brother and I are building a '69 GTO and after the underneath was blasted I sprayed a black epoxy primer on and then I sprayed the whole underneath with a spray on bedliner kit from U-POL called Raptor. The kit was a $100.00 and it includes four bottles and some hardener and a gun. It's real easy to use. Just add a little hardener to a bottle and shake and attach it to the gun and spray. Looks great too and it's very durable.
