I finished fabbing the dash panel for my '71 Camaro tonight and did a test fit on my gauges - I like it!

I think it will add a little excitement to the drive. Kinda an old school gas economy gauge too (as if 396 and economy go together in the same sentence anyway...)

I forgot to order the volt gauge - soon to be remedied though.

Thanks - it was a fun project. I traced the stock bezel onto an old D.O.T. sign (from their scrapyard locally) and cut it out with a jigsaw. Then traced it onto cardboard to make sure it would fit.

Placed the cutout under a 6X6 and sat on it while flexing it to get the correct bends.

Hole sawed the 2 5/8", jigsawed the 5". I am going to build a wiring harness for it now and get the volt gauge on the way,

Can I go with a common lead for the gauge lights or should I run separate power to each from a distribution block?

So......material=free, time spent on project=countless hours. Goes to show that with a hotrod, you just can't win!

I would run just loop it from one to the next.cant be that much draw from that little bulb?

Looks good , I fabricated one very much like that for a streetfighter 79 Z28 my son had years ago out of polished stainless. The stainless was very hard to work with,won't do that again! You should be able to run the lights from a common power lead hooked up to the correct wire off the headlight switch and be able to dim the gauge lights.Post pics when you're all done.
