I have used the search feature here but nothing really said very recently. I am curious to hear of those who currently, or in the past, have run either of these and how they felt about it?

I plan on going one of these routes:

Kumho Ecsta V700: front 265/35/18, rear 335/30/18

Nitto: 555 front 275/35/18, 555r (drag radial) rear 335/30/18

I realize one is more of a lateral handling/cornering tire, and the other is a drag radial for straight-line traction/performance.

I would like the best of both (of course!), but just want to bounce this off many of you since mini-tubbing and these tire sizes have become increasingly popular recently. What is the consensus?

FYI - my car will be used on the street and will see very little track time, if at all.

thanks!

you may want to look at the Falken Azenis RT-615 i have them on my car and they are amazing and i think the tread pattern rocks and the grip is awsome

Nitto now makes a 555RII I think it is called.. It is a more of a roadrace tire and not a drag tire but uses the same or very similar to the 555R..

Thanks for the reply, Josh. I will check out those Falkens.

Skeeter - the problem with the 555RII and the NT01 is that they do not come in the sizes I want, specifically the rear - 335/30/18.

thanks

I'm currently running the Nittos in a 315 width and love the way they hook and have awesome road manners. Probably one of the best tires I've had on the Nova.

I had a set of Kumho Ecsta MX on my 4th gen SS before I sold it, and I was very pleased with them. They handled and hooked great, and were quiet.
