Click here for story (http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2007/08/29/oh-so-thats-where-i-left-it-ed-roths-orbitron-found/)

Seems someone found Roth's "orbitron" sitting out in front of an old porn book store being used as a dumpster. Imagine the car's value right now, in the height of "roth mainia" wow.

Photobucket pics of the find's condition. (http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/dd151/Roth_Orbitron/)

Cleaning the car out must have been fun.

Wow, that's random. I don't know if I would have recognized that if I tripped over it.

I'm an old timer...I think some things like Roth's work are better left forgotten.. He had to be on acid..

I'm with you on that--except for the old timer part. True ugliness transcends generations.

Mike- need a cigarette?

It may be ugly but it represents an era when automobiles were king, and yes they WERE on acid.

You realize some guy is trying to hide the fact he was at a pron shop in MEXICO, Does it get any worse then a porn shop in MEXICO. Because you know it was an american that spotted the car. I wonder if he traded a few dirty magazines and some cigarettes for the car. And how does that car end up on mexico? You could make a movie about this whole situation. Did some guy drive down to mexico in their Roth mobile and it broke down so they just left it in front of the porn shop.

WOW

When ever I'm in Mexico I always stop buy 'El Vaquero' to check out the new videos. I saw Roth's car there many times, I figured he must have traded it for something. I never had any way to bring the car back accross the border so I just focused on the task at hand.

They should make a movie 'A week in Mexico at the porn shop'.

They did make a song 'One night in Bagdad'

I never cared for them either but I appreciate their place in history and I think Roth was a good guy (even if he was on acid LOL!!!). I got to meet him at a show once in the early 90's. It is said that in the last few years of his life he left his phone number listed in the phone book and would regularly field calls from fans asking questions or just wanting to talk to him.

Ed was a good guy. His normal "day job" for a long time was as a sign painter at Knott's Berry Farm (as I recall). He lived in La Mirada and I remember taking my '67 Camaro to him to get pin striped. He even paint a "flourish" on the core support and words "mighty mouse".. He was a character.

Wish I still had the car. He was a real down to Earth guy. Never seemed like he was on acid.. lol

Me too. I like most of his work. Not this one. Reminds me of a bad 60's science fiction movie where you see the scale rocket ship go across the screen on a string.

Me too. I never really loved any of his stuff, but I appreciate what he did for the hobby. I heard he got all power trippy with the Hot Rod people and then it was all bad for him.
