I'm building a LS1 for my camaro and wondering about coil packs. Since the motor I have does not have them, wondering can A LS2 coil packs work, or the truck coil packs as well??

I also plan on running the carb setup with MSD ignition, So I want to make sure that they will work with that igntion box

I think the answer is no. I just read this or saw it somewhere. Someone else will know for sure.

You'll have to use the MSD stuff specific for the LSx..

It's big dollars..

Just use the stock Delphi coils for the LS1...

Which MSD ignition are you going to use ?? If you are going to use the 6010 it will work with stock coil packs and you'll need nothing else.

i just went on the mad coil pack hunt! what a nightmare since i was never home when the ebay auctions ended. i finally caved in and got a nice set of 6.0 truck coils with studs and brackets from a user on ls1 tech for $100. from what i hear the truck coils produce a hotter spark. the only drawback is that they are square shaped and they are larger. if im not mistaken you cant run fuel rail covers with the vortech coils. ls2 coils on e-pay will cost you $200 plus! truck coils are half that and most come with brackets. just search "ls1 coils" or "ls2 coils" on ebay. see what you get.

anyway, car coils are way over priced! for the money nab some truck coils. they aren't that ugly.

hes referring to the msd-6ls ignition box. just plug it in to the delco coil harness and you are off and running.

i think you have it confused with the ls1 msd coil packs. which you could also use. but i would pocket the $600 for something else. besides the msd coils are just the coils, no wiring harness is provided.

exactly... I'm searching for coil packs, and would perfer the ls1's because they are smaller and I plan to mount them to the firewall or under the dash.

Uhhhmmm... yeah. Im gonna need you to move your desk... down stairs.

The 6LS IS the 6010... there is no confusion on my end. As I stated previously, it will work with the OEM stock, Delphi LS1 coils.
