any suggestions on where i can purchase black rubber high pressure fuel line & fittings? i prefer the subtle look, so fittings that are not anodized a color. 1/2" line supply & 3/8" return.

also- along the lines of subtle look, i looked around for fuel regulators, and they all seemed to be red or blue. i purchased a fuel regulator from RobbMc.... very nice piece. my fuel rails, brackets, etc., are brushed aluminum look, so if i can just find the appropriate fittings.

thx.

Black rubber?

The new OEM stuff might be your best bet. It's more plastic than rubber, but it's black tubing.

If you really want rubber lines, I'd touch base with one of the old FI manufacturers like Hilborn or Kinsler.

I prefer braided steel (like Earl's or Russel) teamed with hardline (like Classic Tube's products, which are made to fit in factory locations) but that's just me.

Good Luck!

What about black braided lines?

I know I've seen black/silver AN fittings before, not sure where though.. I'll do some digging..

y, i think the stainless lines would work okay. it looks like the aeroquip lines are not too attention grabbing, but their darn fittings are all red & blue. i'm going to run the rails parallel rather than in series, so there will be a handfull of fittings to be sure.

check out the pic... i'm going to paint the distrib cap black, so you can get a feeling for the look i'm going for.

Scott - i see you are in Minnetonka. i'm in Plymouth. do you have any suggestions on where to go for an engine dyno? i'd like to light a match to this thing soon.

thx for any help/suggestions.
Scott.

Check out Jegs for black pushlock rubber hose and pushlock fittings. The pushlocks have a lot less fitting showing once you install the hose. The plastic OE line and fittings are available through Napa in St Louis Park. They have it all on display and its cheap.

Scott-

I wouldn't let anyone but TPI Specialties in Chaska touch my stuff. Myron Cottrell is the owner over there and I've known him for years. He's a solid guy worthy of trust who can dial your stuff in without worry. He's also one of the very few in the country who looks at O2 sensor air/fuel ratios on all 8 cylinders when fine-tuning carbs (usually a single O2 sensor in one of the header collectors is 'fine' with most dyno tuners).
I've done a lot of work with him since moving here, and I cannot recommend him any higher regardless of make, model, or purpose. He simply knows hi-perf engines and has a great dyno.

Tell him I sent you and you might get a deal...!

The problem with the stock plastic lines is that they are not really easy to work with in a custom installation. I have seen the fittings sold in the "HELP" section at the parts stores. I assume the way to put these together is to heat the tubing with a heat gun and slide them over the barbed fittings.

thanks for the suggestions.

scott - i'll check out myron. that sounds like the right spot for me. everyone seems to suggest wheelers or r&r, good reviews, but they seem to be mostly carb crowd; sounds like myron can help tune the EFI setup. i won't have SFI yet, which is too bad, because it sounds like he can tune per injector. i think i'm going to be running batch fire in megasquirt.

... it sounds like he can tune per injector. ...

not sure he would have the headers with individual cylinder bungs for a traditional pontiac though....

Nope. But, if you've got a spare set that could be drilled, or if you can drill the ones you've got, it'd be worth it.

I wish I could help ya (I've got a round-port Pontiac also)...but I don't have headers for it yet. I had Westech dyno it on the west coast and they had headers for it at the shop.

Surely there's a set of 'sacrificial' Poncho headers out here somewhere...?

Good Luck with it!

i just looked back at post from last november, you confirmed it was your GTO. so is this motor for it? it is fuel injected? do you have any posts i can read through to catch up on what ECU etc you will be using?

Yup- that was my stuff. It's all in my garage now.

I'm running all FAST stuff. It is EFI, batch fire. The complete buildup of the 601 Pontiac was in the December '06 issue of PHR. I couldn't find a link online though- sorry!
