Okay, so we got a customer in that despite my tryigng to talk him into spending a little extra money and going with the DSE kit, brought in a Covans Camaro dash insert kit, complete with AAW kit and Autometer Phantom gauges. Long story short, he has a 4-speed Saginaw in his '69 and the hall effect sensor that is included with the kit does not clear the shift linkage very well and when installing it in the only other spot-which is into the speedo cable coming from the tranny (about 3' long), the Autometer speedometer bounces around a bit and is about 10-15 mph too slow. I assume the short speedo cable is suspect but unless Autometer offers a different adapter for the Saginaw trannys.....
Anyway, I am emailing the Autometer tech dept. but thought maybe somebody here has run into this issue. Thoughts? Other than that, the install went very smooth...AAW has nice stuff. The Covans tech sheets need updated badly but other than that, nice. I'd still rather have the aluminum insert though.

I fail to see where this is an "issue" with the Covans dash.

Well, moreover, the issue is that I remember there being a calibration step with the Autometer speedos but they were not in the Covan instructions..at least not the ones I was provided. I found the calibration steps on Autometers webpage last nite.

So they didn't include the support paperwork with the gauges? That's kinda not cool. I'm guessing though that Autometer sells to them as an OEM and therefore does not include the same packaging as they would to a commercial consumer. Not an excuse, just a possible explaination.
