I have seen kits to get rid of the front shock towers for more room. Any links? i would also like to see some diy jobs.

Revelation Racing Suppies offers a Strut conversion which allows the shock tower to be trimmed but not removed completely; sorry don't know the cost. Griggs racing offers a kit which I believe allows for the removal of the shock tower. It appears to be a more complex installation and runs in the neighborhood of 5k if i'm not mistaken. It also looks to be the most perfomance minded conversion out there. I'd put it in mine if they offered it for a 71; alas the don't. Good luck
