Hello everyone!!!
i just found this site..... i am simply amazed at the cars i have seen and skills of the members.

i am 24 years old and jsut getting into the automotive industry. i work at a performance parts store in ontario, and going to college for automotive product design.

my car is an odd ball but i have no where else to go for advice and appreciation....there aren't too many vintage volvo hotrod forums.
here are some non captioned progress pics and some older turbo pics
www.pbase.com/jiminy14 (http://www.pbase.com/jiminy14)

the car used to be stock then a restoration/ mild restomodification, then turbo charged, fuel injected etc etc......then threw a sbf in two summers ago and drove it for only a couple weeks incomplete ( i had not finished the floor and it was more than a little hairy to drive.)

i am trying to get the car together now as it should've been built the first year i put the sbf in.

i think i have found my new home,

james

thanks guys....its rough having a volvo as a starting point hahahhahaa......i take a lot of flak working with mostly domestic guys/ customers.

i was putting in about 40 hours a week all summer until mid july when i got burnt out..... i have sorta stalled on the project for no reason but lack of ambition. my rear end is done and awaiting pick up, motor is back in....jstu about 200hours of sheet metal/ fab work left....i am hoping for some of you guys to kick my ass enough to get going again. i'd like to have the thing drivable in some form this fall.

yeah sorry.....the pics are old from two years ago at my old shop. i jsut riveted an aluminum firewall in....that has since been made form steel and welded.... i can't express how much of a pain inthe ass it was to rivet the aluminum in. it was .100" thick and therefore hard to bend and work with. had to silicone all steel/aluminum contact point but also put layers of rubber inbetween for fear of vibrations and sealing...in the end it looked pretty but i removed it all so these pics are not really current but here they are....

i should start a project thread .....not sure if this is the place for me to keep going on and on.....just in the garage now modifying my lower control arms to drop the car another 1" or so.
new pics to follow tonight.

i love the 1800 but it was way underpowered....december 1964 hot rod did an article about hollman moody putting a 289 in a 64 1800 iirc. they kept things simple but the car was great...they pitched the idea to volvo but volvo eventually turned down the concept. DAMN...i am here to fix that for myself.

lawrence i noticed that your camaro section points out the blandness of the daily driven volvo...shame on you...hahahah jk

Welcome, James. Are you in Ontario, California, or Ontario, Canada? If it's Canada, where exactly in Ontario?

There was a silver P1800 in Hot Rod a while back with a SBC, that was out of Aurora, Ontario I believe. Any inspiration from that car?

i am in ontario canada. guelph actually. the car you speak of is jim snow's car....i didnt' even know it existed until i saw pics of it at speedorama in toronto two years ago. i was kinda pissed/jealous to be honest. he moved his shop to port perry i think now closer to mosport. guelph is only about 2 hours away if that so i really have no excuse for not makgin the trip to see the car. and one of my bosses is friends with him so i think he'd make time for me.

i will be going a different route than him although his car was really nicely done. i am not into the show aspect of things and jsut want a car that will scare the crap out of me and turn heads for being rare.

they only made approx 4400 1966 1800's and around 35000 total over 10 years. different numbers than you get with domestic stuff, but for some reason they are still cheap and i actually see quite a few of them considering the low production.

Cool, looking forward to seeing the progress on the car. I'm in Caledon, probably less than an hour from you.

The P1800s were pretty notorious for corrosion in our climate here, you don't often see a solid example of one in our area.

Nice to see it with a Ford powerplant, instead of a USRE (Universal Street Rod Engine ... AKA a small-block Chev). LOL

haha thanks... i jstu love the sound of a small block ford, and it was a little easier to fit aswell...i think they weigh a bit less too.
