So I'm out there painting my roll bar. I took (what I thought) all the precautionary measures to keep unwanted item from being painted. That all worked out great, until I got out of the car to find a nice black mist bestowed upon the rest of the car. The whole car:doh:It removes with wax and grease remover, but that'll take all day and way too much supplies. Is there a quicker, easier way to remove the paint? It is Rustoleum enamel.

The roll bar looks amzing btw.:twothumbs

Go to the parts store and get a Mequirs (or any other brand) clay bar. You will be amazed!

I am ashamed to admit it but I was painting my engine stand in the driveway with the wind blowing the opposite direction and got overspray on my motorcycle and brand new car. I used a clay bar as well. Good as new.

BTW, this worked awesome!!!! Totally cleaned everything, glass included. Worked wonders on my mom's car as well. Went back to TX this weekend and talked dad into getting the bar. Took ALL the grit, grim, overspray that was on her car from the body shop. He is hooked as well.

Just don't drop one of those clay bars on the ground and try re-using it......... bad very bad. Chris

How does the clay bar work?

I wish I would have known this yesterday. I parked the wifes car a ways a way from a flag pole I was painting with a bomb can and still covered both our daily drivers pretty good. I used a product called goof off and now its looking like I'm going to be buffing the entire car.

Beware of goofoff products, there are so many different types of goofoff that if you don't get the right one for the right kind of paint you have you can ruin the paint almost instanly. It does work great if you get the right one but most places who sell it don't know that there are so many different ways it comes or which one you will need.

I just wanted to dig this post up to say that now, I too am a believer in the clay bar. I have a black '05 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab that catches a lot of crap being outside all day and it really takes a toll on the black paint. I used Meguiars clay bar 2 days ago and holy crap this stuff works. It was a night and day difference. I did half of the hood at 1st so I could show the wife and she was so impressed I get to do her whole car this weekend.:hand: I just couldn't believe how smooth the paint was compared to the side that was supposedly "clean". This along with some paint cleaner and some wax have made for a really slick truck (and soon to be a really slick Pacifica)
