I just got the word. My '68 will be in the Wilwood booth at this years SEMA. The saw the deal in Super Chevy and called me about it.

It's always been a goal of mine to have a car at SEMA, so this is pretty exciting. She's not up to the standards of some of the super high end stuff that will be there, but she should be able to represent our segment well.

Oh, and here's Wilwoods new banner for events. I think they will be using it at the next Good Guys show. I begged and they made me an extra one for the garage :woot:

I guess I REALLY need to get the car done now.. lol

Congrats Steve. Hey, I'm curious....do you still keep in touch with the car's former owner? He's gotta be shakin' his head at where this car took off to after it left him. LOL!!! Does he even know about the magazine coverage and now this?

Kudos Steve. That's great that you got another thing off of the "have to do before I die" list.

And I think it's good for those that helped with the project... My other goal was to get on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine, I doubt that one will happen given where I work now. lol

Oh and one I hope to have done in the next year is to drive in one of the Nevada open road events.

Congratulations. That banner is awesome. Now you can feel the SEMA pressure along with us.

lol.. I feel it already.. now I have to have things done that I was going to put off until December, like the fire system and "done" interior.

I bet my car will have less options than any other car there. I think Toyo is going to upgrade the car to their new R888 tires.

Man, October is just around the corner :help:

Yea, tell me about it.. I was thinking of driving it to SEMA, but with my luck on the road.. would be cool to be one of the few (only?) cars indoors that drove to SEMA under its own power..

Yea, gonna be a busy and expensive two months..

That is just terrific, Steve, congratulations on the invite!!! You stated that it might not be as showy as a lot of the other cars there, but so what. Your car was never intended to be a show queen, but it still EASILY holds its own agains the competition, no problem. Think about the response at Good Guys earlier this year. Your car represents, to me at least, what is completely possible to produce in terms of taking a nice ex-Pro Street car, and modernizing it without building a full frame off, top to bottom, every nut and bolt type of car. It's the type of car the majority of our hobbyists can build. Obviously, the storyline of the car along the way hasn't been all roses, but it all goes to show that you can't keep a good man/car down.

And I think it's good for those that helped with the project...

Uh, yes, I can state that this is a factual statement.

BTW, I have a home for the front TOYO's when you get the new ones. Consider them spoken for.

Wow. Congrats Steve! That's just awesome. I look forward to seeing it when I get there. It'll hold up just fine against all the other cars there. Your engine compartment is second to none.

I'm glad that my 70 is in the paint booth right now, with this news, it probably would have been pushed out again! Best of Show Coachworks is turning in Camaro central, there are 3 really nice first gens on top of my 70 there right now! I saw the progress that the guys are making on the new sheetmetal, it looks terrific. New fuel cell too, you're clearly not one to leave "well enough" alone, but then again, that's pretty much how all of us are in this hobby, eh!?

last year was thier first time, that's why they were back by the Rousch booth.

I guess thier new booth is much bigger since there will be two cars in it.

Cool...I didn't go last year. Penny will look great. I bet the other car will be an import. Which makes total sense.

Congrats Steve and well worth the recent "journey." For me, your car will be Best in Show!!

Hope you can make it up to some of the Open Track days later in November. There's one on Thanksgiving weekend at Buttonwillow that's much fun. Will be a great time and Penny told me she wants some real exercise and to play with my '73 . . .

Cheers,

Hell yea Mary.. I will come to the open track day if you will give me some brush-up pointers.. I've been so busy building stuff that it's been over two years since I've been on the track.. unless you count dodging cones and a Nitto track day..

She should be all scaled, primed, tuned and ready by then.. sooner hopefully :drive2:

Would be very cool if you could join us Thanksgiving weekend at Buttonwillow. Green Flag Driving does a mean track day event plus it will be after SEMA so all the rock chips will happen afterwards.
