View Full Version : How low can i go in a 70 chevelle??

Alright guys im hoping you can help me out, Ive done a few searches and really have not got the answer i am looking for.
I want to run 17" or 18" wheels not sure yet but i want the protouring look, what size rims and backspacing and tires do you guys recommend with what stance?? I am on some what of a budget so i cant get into bags or anything to expensive.. any advise and pics will be appreciated.

Do you run long-tube headers? Those will be a limiting factor if you have them.

About 4" at the lowest point is ideal... if not headers, it will probably be your front crossmember.

4.5" backspacing on an 8 inch wide wheel 5.5" on a 9.5"-10" wide wheel are pretty safe bets. It'll be headers or front crossmember that'll limit how low you can go.

The wheels im looking at are 18x8.5 and 18x10 maybe 20x10.
Ive been looking on this forum like crazy and it looks like most guys with this combo is running 4.5 or 4.75 in the front and 5.5 or 5.75 in the rear.
should i just stick with 4.5 and 5.5? Will that work if i change to disks, or to a 12 bolt rear end?
