My New Project: I blame SW!

Well, I don't really just blame him. I blame him and his cohort Clint Pohler.

I picked up a 1992 SC400 in Silver Spruce Metallic (I don't have a picture offhand) about a month or two ago. Then last night I got my mitts on a 1jz-gte (I'm too cheap to get a 2jzgte aka supra motor).

After seeing Clint and SW rockin these sleds, and seeing pictures of 'soarers' as they are badged in the land of the rising sun, I had to get one.

They can be made sick-fast for sure! You'll have fun and spend a fair amount too. :)

I got the V8 GS400 thinking that 8 cyl. was the way to go. Doh! Super sweet car though.
There's a huge aftermarket available for these cars!

I presume you've done some surfing over at clublexus.com? There's some good people and turbo knowledge there also.

I have been on CL, great site. I also have 2 buddies that are toyota experts and will be helping me when the time comes. The 1jz cost me very little, and I'm not into the car for too much either (and I'm enjoying it in it's current form).

Dude go find the video of SW(at least I think it is his SC) running down the two vipers that ran from a roll. The SC was supposed to be filming them.


Damn it! This just brings back my feelings that I would like to maybe go on to build a Supra for a change of pace one day.

Stop by lextreme.com and you'll find there's a bubbling aftermarket for the Lexus/Toyota V8's as well. As it sits you have a V8 Supra, and there are guys out there swapping 1 and 3UZ-FE's into Supras, so if that doesn't mean something I don't know what does.

It's not very cheap but the UZ-FE motors are some of the nicest built V8's out there. Supposedly the most efficient as well.

I'm after a nice SC400 to do a 5sp swap to, then maybe a supercharger down the road if I get the urge to do something stupid (fun).

I wish you guys would translate the engine codes so I don't have to hunt them down.

The number is the generation of the engine, the prefix (one-letter or two-letter designation) is the engine family, and the suffix (separated by a dash) specifies the features of the engine.
