I rolled my chassis outside this morning to take some more pictures for you guys. It's been a while since it's been outside, so kinda cool to see it from 20 feet if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately the body is still hanging from the roof so I can't show it on the chassis outside (plus, I screwed up the back wheel b/s (http://www.royaltiki.com/Cars/The-55-Project/I-suppose-Id-better-own-up), so I couldnt roll the chassis around with the body on :guilty:)

Here's one I took earlier, will probably be a smidge lower than this..

overall chassis shot. there are some rollcage tubes still missing - the cross-braces between rear door pillar and center of car, and some bracing on the front bar to chassis by the headers.

from above. it's not perfect because it started out for a lot narrower car, so to mount the '55 body I had to built out from the main rails. It's all very strong, but of course I wish the chassis was built wide to start with. You gotta go with what you got sometimes, right?

i put two gas tanks in the floor for keep the weight low when racing, then a bigger tank above the rear end for road trips. The big feeds into the lower ones and because I have two pumps etc it basically allows me to run on one pump when on the road with another tank in reserve. on the track both pumps will run and rely on the regulator to restrict the pressure. This same idea worked well on the GT40 replica I built.

I'm running AP Racing brakes all round so had no provision for hand brake. I'm running a separate rotor on the drive shaft for that.

Hmm, what else can I see to talk about. You'll see that I sacrificed the passenger foot room for my oil tank and catch tanks - they'll still fit but can't stretch their legs. Couldn't find anywhere else to mount them!

I kicked the rollcage over the rear seat because there will be one - I'll make a "monocoque" one from aluminum sheet that will suit the kids and won't add much weight. Only kids will be able to crawl through the cage anyway :D

I have 3 AP Racing ari jacks on here you might see. Two at front, one at rear. I have a divers air bottle at 200psi that I calculated once would give me 10 lifts from one fill. Certainly lighter than carrying a jack and axle stands.

The exhaust was designed to be equal length tubes, although i guess they knew that there's really no way for me to check. hehe. It's topped off with a couple of SuperTrapp mufflers that will probably exit through the rear bumper and allow me to tune the noise by adding/removing discs to satisfy cops and track regulations. I'll be adding alot of discs for cruise night. :D

I'm running a simple 650 double pumper for now, but I'm told I might have to go up a couple sizes. I dunno, opinions on carbs vary, everyone has a different one. I'm waiting to see what the motor wants. It's built for revving to 8grand but again, we'll see. Never been dynoed.

I have more detail shots if anyone wants to see anything (or look on flickr)

Wow!! That is gonna be nice ride. Very different. What are you running for back tires on the 15's with an 10"rim??

Hoosier 31x12.50R-15LT Pro Street. A little surprisingly they are H rated (130mph) which I wasn't expecting for such a tall tire. That's fast enough for the mainly street use that the car will now get. Hell, that's fast enough for most tracks especially when you don't know them (I drove a lot of circuits in Europe, but not one here yet). Fastest I ever went was on Paul Ricard with a 0.9mile straight. Got my GT40 up to indicated 165mph there which was fun with a 90deg bend looming...
