1973 nova into a 70 nova

i got a 1973 nova but i like the front end of the 1970 nova, can i buy a 1970 front grill and bumper and put it in or do i haved to make mod. to it. please help

The conversion from 73-74 to 68-72 Nova is all bolt on, but requires a few more pieces than what you mentioned. You will need front bumper (with bracketry), grill, fender extensions, headlight bezels, and bumper filler. If you really want to get it perfect, the hood should be changed as well because the 73-74 hood lip hangs down a tad further than the 68-72. Also, you'll have to take out the extra bracing to tuck the front bumper more. I think that's everything. If I missed anything, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Welcome to the site guys. yep that covers it. Let me know if you need some used part as I have stuff you might need. In fact I just threw out alot of what you would need.


At least you can use the same fenders.

Also check with your local laws, removal of required bumper impact equiptment for that year might be a problem if your car requires yearly inspections.

If you really want it all 68-72 you will need the turn signals for the bumper (of course) and a new hood latch (the latch is strait rather than curved to the side for the 73/74 plastic grille, although your old one will work if you dont really care) and possible support for it. ( i think they were different also). Good Luck!!

You mind finding out how your friend tucked the front up? Also, I have pictures of a car that had the bumpers tucked and narrowed, and then painted. I need to dig them up. It looks great but it was a helluva lotta work to do.

The front bumper was moved in with custom brackets that were welded up and bolted to where the shock cylinder went on the bumper, and where a 68-72 bumer bracket would bolt to the subframe. I wish I had some close up pics to show you, but I dont and he sold it a while back so I cant get any....Sorry man.

I like the grille soo much better on the '68-'72. I hate that plastic and plan on doing the swap on my '73 also.
